Baby Gourmet…mmm good!

Baby Gourmet is a healthy, organic, and nutritious food for your baby.  They come in three different stages.  Stage 1 is for babies 6 months and older, stage 2 is for babies 7 months and older, and stage 3 is for babies 8 months and older.  All of their foods are organic, contain no thickeners or fillers, contain no added sugar or salt, and are kosher.  Each stage of foods has three different flavors to choose from, for a total of nine different products.

My favorite feature of this product is their packaging. It’s in a resealable pouch that can be served warm or cold.  It does not require any spoon, just squeeze and feed!  It is so convenient to throw in my diaper bag when I know I’m going to be out, and I have a meal already prepared and ready. I can’t wait to bring them with when we go for long car rides.  Rather than pulling over to feed my baby, or trying to feed her with a spoon in the car, I can just feed her the pouch while we are on the move.

I cannot say enough positive things about this product. They taste fantastic (Tropical Banana Bliss was the favorite in our house), are extremely convenient, and are a healthy choice for babies and even toddlers on the go. Here’s their website for more information and to find out where you can buy them:

Zoobies Review

What will they think of next!

Zoobies

Zoobies are a stuffed animal,

that turns into a pillow,

THEN can turn into a blanket!

Hooray! Less things to bring in the car for trips! And there is a lion.. a tiger… and a bear (OH MY!) to choose from, in addition to 27 total Zoobie Pet Blankets to choose from!  Zoobies also carries – Book Buddies, Duffle Dogs, Storytime Pals, Blankie Babies, and Slumber Pets.

Zoobies Review

We welcomed Jafaru the Giraffe join our home last week and he has been very loved since the moment he popped out of the box. Greatest feature ever is the blanket can zip off Jafaru to clean separately!  To change Jafaru from a stuffed animal to a pillow, just un-velcro the two loops under his belly and to use the blanket unzip the bottom of Jafaru and pull the blanket out. I found folding up the blanket and putting it can in Jafaru is very easy to use and it fits nicely back into a pillow (if you fold it the way the instructions suggest). The blanket is 44 inches by 34 inches unfolded a good size in my book. We also found Jafaru makes a funny hat!

Kidorable Towel Review & Coupon Code!

All our children have big dreams of being mermaids, space Heros, and pirates. Here’s their chance to live out their dreams with Kidorable Hooded Towels!  These terry cloth soft towels are great for the beach/lake or after bath time.  They are 100% cotton, machine washable and dryer safe. My kind of product – easy care!  The hooded towel are available in 2 sizes (Newborn to 2 years old and 3 to 6 years old).  Here’s the tough decision, which one to choose out of the 11 Kidorable Hooded Towels available.

Here’s what Kidorable has to say about their hooded towels…

“Our customers tell us that our towel designs are the best anywhere. Now our towel quality leads the industry as well. The old material was a soft and absorbent terrycloth.  The new material retains all that is good about that, and adds a layer of super soft velour. The result is an equally absorbent, and now lighter, brighter, softer towel. ”

Pictures can say a 1000 words.

Kidorable Towel Review

Here’s my kiddo in her Kidorable Mermaid Towel! She loves it!

From the moment we got it in the mail, she’s been wearing it!  The Mermaid Towel has a starfish on the head, an orange fish on one side blowing bubbles and a seashell pocket on the other. Then in the back is her mermaid fin.  One of my favorite features is a big yellow plastic snap, that’s even friendly for her to snap herself.  We always try and slip some motor skills in even during bath time. The Kidorable Towel is very soft with vibrant colors. Two thumbs us from us!

UV Skinz Review & Giveaway!

It’s summer time which means most people will be spending lots of time outdoors!  With the sun being so harmful, sunscreen isn’t enough! UV Skinz has a wonderful line of 50+ UV sun protection clothing for everyone in the family! This company is approved by the Melanoma International Foundation as well as an iParenting Media Award Winner!

Kids sizes range from 6 months to 14 and adult sizes go up to a size 4 XL! UV Skinz carries shirts (long and short sleeve), hats, shorts, gloves/sleeves, shades, and sun screen! It’s a one stop shop for sun-protective clothing for the entire family!

My UV Skinz Review:

My daughter received the Pink Mermaids sunwear set, which included a reversible hat, short sleeve swim shirt, and shorts.

This picture is with the Mermaid side of the hat.

This picture is the reverse side of the hat which is pink.

I have a very active, wiggly 3 year old. Sometimes trying to put sun screen on her is like trying to put it on a cat!  I always miss a spot, however, with her new outfit I can worry less.  The shirt covers her arms to her elbows and the hat is wide brimmed for fun at the beach. It’s light weight and doesn’t make her hot.  I love the modesty of the entire outfit.  It’s very age appropriate and fun!

It also washed up nicely! Gentle wash and drip dry.

UV Skins has my vote for UV-protective clothing! Check out their website to buy yours today!   You can also find them on Facebook and/or Twitter.

Special Offer: BLOGS15 code that you can use for a 15% discount on UV Skinz’s site.

Now for the Giveaway!

Forward Facing Vs Rear Facing Car Seats

Safety is important to parents. Car seat safety for children has become more than just a parent’s concern, as laws and regulations have been put in place to keep children in a booster seat until they are 8 years old here in Illinois. The American Academy of Pediatrics (Source: Online Journal of American Academy of Pediatrics) recommends rear facing for children up to age 2, whereas it use to be age 1. They even recommend children 13 and under ride in the back seat of the car – mostly because of airbags.

I am not refuting safety, but sometimes I think things can get a little too regulated. I mean my 12 year old is taller than my 13 year old so we allow her to ride in the front seat. I just think this should be a common sense decision but because of lack of common sense other parents get more regulations. I realize that there are probably more cars on the road than ever and paramedics, doctors, nurses and emergency rooms are witnessing an increase of fatalities and injured children. But I don’t think it always depends on just the type of car seat used, the driving skills and attentiveness of the drivers all need to be factored into the equation too.

Statistics. According to Crashtest.Com, frontal and frontal offset crashes combine for about 72% of severe crashes. Side impacts are about 24%. Rear and rear offset crashes only account for about 4%. The NHTSA FARS database shows similar numbers. The odds of being in a frontal crash with a fatality or very serious injury are many times greater than being in a severe rear-end crash. Rear-enders are more common at lower speeds, though most injuries in these crashes are not as severe – typically, whiplash injuries to adults, especially passengers lacking proper head restraint. ~ Car-Safety.org

In countries like Sweden, children are often kept rear-facing much longer, even to 3 or 4 years old. Auto related injury and death rates for rear-facing children in Sweden are near zero because of this. ~ Car-Safety.org

Unlike Sweden, the UK doesn’t even have access to to much rear facing car seats information. They are actually campaigning for more education in regards to this very topic.

We have always used a rear facing car seat until our little ones have been a year or so old. It depended upon their size and weight. As I have already stated, in recent years it’s been recommended and even established that rear facing car seats are much safer for children. Based on what you know and have read, what kind of car seat do you use for your children – rear facing or forward facing and for what ages?

Toys for My Boys

In a consumer driven age it’s hard to keep “the stuff” at bay. I have always been one to go through my belongings and get rid of stuff. I can thank my mom for that trait or habit. Our home growing up was never cluttered with stuff and that’s the way I have strived to be, I just have double the people my mom did. It gets tougher when you have eight children, especially when they are home every day. Some of you have the advantage of purging while your kids are at school, I don’t have that luxury. I can’t throw out things they really want to keep, but are useless and take up space. You know all those little trinkets, drawings. They are wonderful but I can’t keep every single one my eight children make or I’d live in paperville! Thankfully, the older my children get the better they are becoming about keeping things to a minimum – that does not mean they are neat about it though!

We have always been on the conservative side of toys too – didn’t want to live in toyville either! So when our children receive toys it is usually something that they have really talked about or we thought they would play with it long term, a figure or little people or an educational toy.

People figures have always been a favorite in our house and something our children never really get tired of playing. Our children recently saw a transformers trailer and so we thought our four year old would enjoy playing with the Transformers Rescue Bot. It is really easy to transform and both our little boys love playing with it. It retails for $12.99.

Here’s a little video with my daughter showing how it works before we let the little boys have it, as I didn’t want to have to hunt for it!

Now my littlest guy gets a kick out of the Playskool Poppin’ Park Squeezn’n Pop lion toy. It’s this little toy lion that has a circle mouth where you can place a ball, then you squeeze and out pops the ball! Junior laughs every time. This is a toy for little ones 18 months and up.

Love these new toys for my boys!

Have your children received any new toys lately? If so, what?

If It’s Free! It’s for Me!

I found a new website!  Watch out, it’s addicting!  It’s called The Freecycle Network. Type in your location and see what people have to “offer” or “want” and they are all free!  You will find almost ANYTHING on here.  I’ve seen used oil, frozen meats, swing sets, baby items, beds, you name it!  You will need an account – if you find and “offer” you’d like you then need to contact the person to set a time / place and go and pick it up!  I’ve seen a few “curb alerts” (a curb alert is people that are putting stuff out on the curb or road) in my area.  This is my kind of bargain shopping!

http://www.freecycle.org

Editor’s Note: Our family has used Free Cycle and have got some pretty nice stuff – our recliner is one of them. We have also got work horses which have come in handy now that we have moved! Lots of neat and useful things have been found on Free Cycle. Beware of daily emails as they will over take your inbox! I finally had to unsubscribe due to the emails and my husband’s request! lol! I had him running out to pick up too many things! ;)
