Getting Back to Blogging

Blogging? What is that? Ha ha. It is hard to believe it has been over two years since the last blog post was written. Thank you to the faithful contributors who kept the blog alive up until that point. Life happens. Change occurs. When that happens, blogging takes a back seat to everything else. However, it is time to get some fresh content up on this blog. If the time we sat in front of the editorial calendar is any indication, fresh content will be happening on a regular basis. Ideas are there, they just have to be typed out. Look out blogging world!

Blogging, Life and Friends

Where did everyone go in the last 2-5 years? Life has a way of taking each of us on a journey that is not expected. Families grow, requiring more time of us. People get new jobs or go back to work after being home with young children. Friends come and go. In the midst of life’s difficulties, each of us finds out who our real friends are. The ones who leave, were never really our friends. The ones who stay are to be treasured all the more because they believe in us and hold us up when we can no longer hold ourselves up.

Happy 10th Anniversary and a Fresh Start in 2020

As this blog begins a fresh start in 2020, it is also Faith and Family Reviews ten year anniversary. Happy 10th Anniversary to us! We cannot believe it was ten years ago this blog opened for reviews and so much more. Where did the time go?

It is with a skeletal group of writers that we begin. Who are we? As time unfolds, that will be revealed. For now, it will remain a mystery. Maybe the intrigue will bring us new visitors, who knows?

Introducing Another New Contributing Writer!

In the hustle and bustle of my busy life, Kaitlin Gardner appeared out of no where inquiring about becoming a contributing writer at Faith and Family Reviews. Not one to usually turn down help, I accepted her offer!

Kaitlin Gardner owns AnApplePerDay.com She started her blog to explore her passion for a green living lifestyle, and healthy family living. She and her husband have just moved to rural Pennsylvania, where they enjoy exploring the countryside to discover interesting and out of the way places. She is also learning how to paint watercolors.

Blog Forward 2014 Challenge #3 by ZonePerfect

Blog Forward 2014 Challenge #3 by ZonePerfect

You may or may not remember my earlier posts for the ZonePerfect Challenge #1 and Challenge #2. Here I am again for Challenge #3, which is:

Challenge #3: How you feel your progress has gone so far? Review the letter you wrote in the beginning of the year. How do you plan to recharge and renew the excitement you felt in the beginning of the year to get yourself through the year successfully?

A Review of My New Year’s Resolutions

You all know I don’t make resolutions so here is my “loose” list of goals for 2014:

1. Increase our income. (I *think* God is well on His way to answering this prayer…need a bit more time to be sure.)

2. Nutrition. Eat and grow more vegetables to we can freeze and can our winter supply.

3. Take our children on more field trips.

4. Get more organized as a whole family – mostly the house as it is an ongoing battle, that and getting the children to stay on task.

On to Challenge #3

How am I progressing?

I would say baby steps. I’m continuing to work on organization in our home and trying to teach everyone else how to contribute to that organization. This is a constant issue in our home, even with older children.

We have taken the children on a couple more field trips – the Young Flyers day, apple picking, berry picking – but funds are limited so we will be planning to take advantage of free museum days.

Nutritionally, we are doing ok, but have not been able to grow enough to can or freeze because of our commitment to our CSA members. But at least we got to eat from our garden more this year than we did last year!

My only plan is to continue focusing on 3 and 4. Especially 3, as family is important and the more we time we spend together, the more memories we will make. Children are only children for so long and we want to enjoy them as much as possible.

It’s been a few months since I posted my ZonePerfect Challenge #1. I had to re-read my post to see what my 2014 resolutions were and here they are, as well as my update on how I am doing in accomplishing them:

~~1. Increase our income. (I *think* God is well on His way to answering this prayer…need a bit more time to be sure.)~~ This is definitely happening, but we still have a ways to go yet. I am grateful for the improvement so far.

~~2. Nutrition. Eat and grow more vegetables to we can freeze and can our winter supply.~~ This is in the works as we have 20-30 50 foot beds tilled and ready to plant veggies in for our family and our CSA members. This makes me very happy, but I am a little anxious because I want everything to grow beautifully!

3. Take our children on more field trips. This one…..needs more work! We haven’t gone on any field trips yet this year. However, we did go mini golfing! It was hilarious and lots of fun!

4. Get more organized as a whole family – mostly the house as it is an ongoing battle, that and getting the children to stay on task. Errr….this one is ongoing, challenging and seems like a never-ending task! I think it’s also the most frustrating.
