Gift Ideas for Mom and Dad – Active Faith Sports

Less than a week before Christmas and all in the house were scurrying about, trying to come up with last minute gift ideas for mom and dad…..

Is that you? I only have a few gift cards left to get and some flowers to order (which may be already ordered by the time this post goes live!) If you have some people of faith on your gift list who are into fitness Active Faith Sports may have some gift ideas for you. I recently got my husband a pair of “basketball” shorts as most of his are nearly 20 years old – I don’t know how that man retains clothing that long! Guess he bought quality clothes that lasted.

We found the Active Faith Sports basketball shorts to run big. Robert likes them longer since he is tall, but the large are big on him. Not so much in the waist as the legs. My husband says they feel nice and are comfortable just baggier than he usually wears and prefers. He has super thin legs though! They’d probably be fine on a larger framed man. The material is breathable and decent quality. I cannot say how they wash up since my husband doesn’t usually wear shorts in the winter and he’s not part of a fitness center or gym. If I remember, I will try to update this post to reflect laundering come spring time.

My daughter had the pleasure of wearing Dots on Tots’ organic cotton Ear Protection flaphat. The natural, eco-friendly material was ultra soft and very lightweight. It’s perfect for Fall right now. It keeps her head nice and warm without overheating. The ear flaps fit securely over her ears, but were not too tight to where she was trying to pull them off. It has a nice velcro closure under the chin that stayed secure. She felt very comfortable in it.

We always go for walks in the stroller and my daughter tries to fall asleep, but sometimes she wakes up from the cars passing by or the dogs barking in the neighborhood. I noticed these noises did not bother her while she was wearing the hat, and she actually napped longer!

School is back in session in many areas, which means fall is just around the corner. With fall comes football practice, football games and homecoming. If you children old enough, you may have a daughter who is planning attending the homecoming dance and will need to purchase a homecoming dress. Protecting my children’s skin has always been important to me. Their skin is so very delicate and the sun can be so harmful. My kids love to play outside and know that everytime they go out they have to get loaded up with sunscreen. Our backyard has no shade all day long until 4pm. I’m always on the lookout for ways to keep them out of the sun or protect them the best way I can such as swim shirts, hats, and sunscreen. Sun Angels Sleeves goes a step further offering protection for the arms.

Sun Angels has developed sun protective arm sleeves for kids. Their arm sleeves are certified UPF 50+ and are made from a 60% polyester, 35% cotton jersey, and 5% spandex (latex-free) blend. This makes them extremely lightweight and breathable. The material feels very soft and thin. Each sleeve has a non-restrictive elastic band on the top to keep them from slipping down. Initially I thought they would be too tight on my daughter’s arms, but they slipped on snugly, making them the perfect fit. They didn’t fall, twist, or move at all. The arm sleeves stayed in place and looked like actual sleeves. These arm sleeves are so stylish, too! They are sold in pairs and they have many styles to suit boys or girls. The patterns are so adorable and the colors are very vibrant. They come in four different sizes to accommodate infants through children aged six.

I use these all of the time on my daughter. I am always carrying her around in my carrier and her arms are always exposed. These arm sleeves are great since they slip on and off easily and keep her skin protected. They are machine washable and fold easily into my diaper bag so they are always with me. I highly recommend these to every mom out there. You no longer need to fuss with sticky, gooey, chemical filled sunscreen. Simply slip on the arm sleeves and you’re ready to go! Loving Moments by Leading Lady Review and Giveaway

Going bra shopping has never been one of my favorite things to do. Normally I have to buy them at stores I don’t shop at on a regular basis so I have to make a special trip all the way there. I’m kind of picky when it comes to bras, so after trying them on in the store, I always go home and try them on again to make sure I like them. More often than not, I have to return one or two of them because they felt different when I tried them on at home. Then I have to make another trip back to the store to return them, and restart the process. Needless to say, I only bra shop once or twice a year. When I received the opportunity to review a nursing bra sold exclusively at Wal-Mart I was delighted. How convenient to buy bras at Wal-Mart when I’m already shopping there at least once a week.

Loving Moments by Leading Lady products include nursing bras for everyday, active, sleep and leisure. They also offer nursing camis as well. Normally I wear bras that have an underwire, so I was anxious to try a couple without. The first one I tried was the Cotton Wirefree Nursing Bra that is sold as a 2-pack. In terms of style, they were absolutely adorable! You can choose either black, black dot, pink, or pink dot and then they come with another white bra. Each has strech lace lining at the top that really flatters the chest and is ultra soft. It also gives a lot so you can easily move in it. I like that the cups are seamless so you don’t see any lines through your outerwear and they don’t irritate the skin. The neck line is low enough that you can still wear V-Neck shirts while wearing them. As a nursing bra it was very easy to clasp and unclasp with one hand. Nursing pads fit very easily inside as well. This bra gave so much support, I could not even tell it didn’t have an underwire. Usually by the end of the day I cannot wait to take my bra off and “relax.” I honestly didn’t feel like that wearing this bra. It was so soft and not confining. I definitely recommend this bra to nursing moms!

The other bra I had the chance to try was their Active Wirefree Nursing Bra. I will be honest. I never knew nursing “sports bras” existed. I always just wore regular sports bras when I was nursing and then it was just a pain in the butt when it came time to nurse. This bra was amazing! It was so soft and comfortable to wear. I loved that the shoulder straps were padded and a little wider to help support when I went for my walks and light jogs. This nursing bra was also easy to clasp and unclasp using only one hand and nursing pads fit in easily. I could not believe how comfortable it was for walking and for doing the day to day jobs around the house. I highley recommend this bra as well.

Finding maternity clothes is never an easy task. Some of the major retailers carry them, but it’s usually one very small rack with very few choices. I cannot tell you how many compliments I received the day of my party asking me where I bought my top. Two of my good friends are also pregnant so I passed their website onto them. I’ve worn the top a few times after my party as well, and I still get huge compliments on how adorable the top and my belly is. The top is machine washable, but I hung it to dry. Since the material is so lightweight, it dried in less than an hour.

Twitten Valentine’s Day Gift Idea

February is here and so is Valentine season. A couple of weeks ago I shared 5 Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas, but I have one more to add to that list. It’s a cutsie kind of gift idea that you could give any couple or yourself.

You remember how Bambi was twitterpated? Perhaps you are “twitten” with your sweetie? Twitten you say? Yes well that’s a new term to add to your vocabulary this winter and Valentine’s Day.

Twitten is a pair of mittens, but better than a pair of mittens when it comes to holding your sweetheart’s hand, as it allows you to really hold their hand and not deal with the bulk of a glove or mitten between your hands. Novel idea, eh? Told you it was a cute gift idea.

Twitten is handmade in Peru. It is hand washable as it is made of 50% Alpaca, 30% Wool and 20% Acrylic. They are very soft. They run a bit large for my hand but they are “one size fits most couples” so as to accommodate many sized hands.

Not only does TWITTEN offer the Twitten, but they also sell Texting Gloves, Texting Mittens, Fingerless Gloves, Hats and Scarves. There are many different colors and patterns to choose from.

I actually love these products. I really want the Texting Mittens! We haven’t had a chance to wear our Twitten or wash it but I am grateful for an extra set of mittens in our house as they tend to slowly disappear as winter goes on.
