If It’s Free! It’s for Me!

I found a new website!  Watch out, it’s addicting!  It’s called The Freecycle Network. Type in your location and see what people have to “offer” or “want” and they are all free!  You will find almost ANYTHING on here.  I’ve seen used oil, frozen meats, swing sets, baby items, beds, you name it!  You will need an account – if you find and “offer” you’d like you then need to contact the person to set a time / place and go and pick it up!  I’ve seen a few “curb alerts” (a curb alert is people that are putting stuff out on the curb or road) in my area.  This is my kind of bargain shopping!

http://www.freecycle.org

Editor’s Note: Our family has used Free Cycle and have got some pretty nice stuff – our recliner is one of them. We have also got work horses which have come in handy now that we have moved! Lots of neat and useful things have been found on Free Cycle. Beware of daily emails as they will over take your inbox! I finally had to unsubscribe due to the emails and my husband’s request! lol! I had him running out to pick up too many things! ;)

Stolen Bunny?

It has been a fairly uneventful week. I took an unexpected break from blogging due to life just happening, but so all of you know I will only be blogging 2-3x per week for the summer – probably Monday, Wednesday and Friday OR Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday some weeks. There’s just too many other things on my plate right now.

The one bit of excitement we did have – besides my daughter’s birthday in which we had a cook out – was Luna, our black and white bunny, went missing. Saturday morning we discovered her gone, plus some sheet metal that was outside the barn was gone as well. This led us to count the chickens and we discovered two of them missing! We ended up calling the police because we felt violated having things stolen, not to mention the fact having had someone on our property. :-( The dispatcher was like, “Livestock too?” The policeman who came out was just as baffled as we were, but talked to our neighbors and said he’d file a report in case other thefts in the area had occurred, just in case any of them ended up being related somehow. He did think it was probably local.

The funny thing is shortly after the policeman left Luna came hopping across the road and into our field where some of the children were doing their chores. Weird. We didn’t think the bunny had escaped because of the way the cage was so bent and surely the bunny could not have bent up its cage door. However, the bunny went missing again Saturday night even after we moved the bunnies up closer to the house. Yesterday the children spotted her in the corn field behind our house. We are not allowed in the corn field due to the agreement with our landlords and the farmer renting the field, so the children made a trap with apples to lure Luna home. Thankfully she fell for it and they caught her again. We are still very confused by it all and probably will never know what really happened.

It made us wonder about our current location since our property is very accessible and in plain site of a major road, even though we are rural – the city police would not even come out, we had to go through the county sheriff’s department. All of this has made us feel unsafe. Not that we want to move, but if we found something in this area off the main “drag” we probably would consider it.

How about you, ever had anything stolen? Feel free to share in the comments below.

Kidorable “Lucky Cat” Backpack

Kidorable delights both children and the adults who love them by transforming everyday, functional kids accessories into objects that excite their imaginations and enrich their lives at play.

From rainwear to backpacks to knitwear and towels, Kidorable speaks to the precious spirit of childhood.

OUR REVIEW:

We were very excited to have the opportunity to review an item from Kidorable’s backpack collection. We were able to choose which backpack to review and my daughter chose the “Lucky Cat” backpack!  When we received the product both my daughter (3 years old) and myself were elated with the product. My daughter loved the whimsical kitty design on the front of the backpack as well as the little mouse zipper pull! I loved that the backpack is made of sturdy PVC material that can withstand a toddler’s wear and tear. The backpack is the perfect size for my 3 year old…the dimensions are roughly 10”x8”x6” so the size is great for little shoulders! I also like that it has both and inside and outside pocket for children to stash their items!

I do have to say that there are so many cute backpacks to choose from that I had a hard time deciding which one to review…so I did actually pull my 3 year old to the computer and let her “shop” for the one she liked. The online photos and dimensions were great! We were not surprised with any difference in the product than what is listed on the website…everything is just as described! This was great! The product also cam very quickly (to my surprise) and was packaged neatly in a box…this was great because too many times I get items mailed in an envelope that arrive misshapen because the bubble mailer was smashed and mishandled! Kudos Kidorable for great packaging and delivery!

Thank you KIDORABLE for another great collection!

From May 23 through May 31, you can purchase your own backpacks for 20% off by using code BACKPACK99 at checkout on www.kidorable.com.

Check out all the backpack styles for girls and boys.

Faith and Family Reviews received the following product in exchange for writing a review. While we consider it a privilege to receive free products to review, our reviews are our honest opinion and thoughts of the product.

Great Day To Be A Dog #iLoveMyK9 #CBias #SocialFabric

We love our new puppy, as if you couldn’t tell by how much I talk about him here on the blog! Ha! He’s become another member of the family and a source of endless stories. He is pretty funny. While we have been working in the garden this week, we’ve been trying to get him to stay out of that area, which is partially fenced but has some openings. So a few times we have yelled, “Out Padfoot!” It usually takes a few times with a clap of the hands. This one particular time I was walking towards him saying, “Out” in a growl-y voice. What does he do? It’s like he was sassing me, he does a little skip around wagging his tail, then goes down on his front paws and barks at me! Of course, I had to run over and give him a pet and “Good dog” because he did get out. ;)

The children have been having fun with the chicks, turkeys and ducks. This week they have been taking them outside and kind of tossing them up in the air and allowing them to fly down to the ground. It’s pretty fun to watch, except when one Turkey flew into a tree – that scared me because I thought it’s poor wings would be hurt, but it was ok. They have also been trying to train Padfoot to be nice to the poultry. My oldest at one point had two chicks on Padfoot’s back. He did pretty good, but she stayed with him the whole time. I should have told her to give him some dog treats but I didn’t think of it. He loves his treats and since he is almost out of the last ones we got, I had to go to Walmart to buy him more. There are many dog treats to choose from, many of which are unhealthy, I ended up deciding to buy the pup Pup-Peroni Mix Stix, Milk-Bone Trail Mix and Milo’s Homestyle Kitchen Chicken Meatballs. I am not sure which one he prefers yet, but he sure likes to eat! Update: Milo’s Chicken Meatballs are Padfoot’s new favorite dog treat! I chose small packages because I hate to buy a big thing of them only to find out Padfoot doesn’t like the treats. The children have a tendency to give the puppy too many treats, so much so he ends up neglecting his yummy puppy food. :-( Time to hide them!

While I was out I also purchased the same items for a friend who also got a puppy a few months ago. We wanted to surprise her with them because she is such a good friend and they were suppose to come over for lunch this week but we had to cancel. Here’s a photo of my oldest with our friend and isn’t her little Chivalry cute?

You can read more about my shopping trip here. And also feel free to connect with these brands on Twitter and Facebook. @Milkbone, Milk-Bone’s Facebook page and @PupPeroni.

When there’s dog treats around, it’s always a great day to be a dog!

New and Improved Huggies Diapers and Wipes

The diaper dilemma. There are so many diapers on the market, many of the off brands are made by the same manufacturer just under a brand name – don’t ask me which ones because I don’t know the answer! :) Then there are cloth diapers and the choices seem endless compared to what they were 15-20 years ago when all we had were saftey pins and a rectangle piece of cloth and maybe a velcro version if we sewed or could find someone else who had them.

We have tried many diapers over the years and until our last little guy were mostly cloth diapering parents, but my husband got into the grove of buying disposable diapers after his mom supplied us with a couple months worth of diapers after our youngest was born in 2010. Since then we have used Huggies. For some reason they did not leak as much on baby, nor did they get that gel gunk all over my son’s bottom. We just grew to love them. I also like the fact that Huggies offers an eco-friendly version, which I have tried a few times and like just as much if not more because they are eco-friendly. They are just a little pricer for what I want to pay for disposable diapers, after all we just throw them away, right? (wry smile)

The new and improved Huggies diapers, Snug and Dry, and wipes are just as good, if not better than the former versions. I find food does not get stuck on the outside of the diaper as much, nor do they “pill” with that fuzzyiness as much. We have only been using them a week, but we definitely like what we are seeing so far! Try them and see for yourself! ;)

My little guy motored around in his Little Tykes car, ran around the garden, sat on the ground and you could barely tell he had been outside, unless he got wet. Then you could tell!

See my poor drooping plants there in the foreground…so need to get them all into the ground!

The wipes seem to have a different scent, at least the ones I received. I usually buy the Aloe scented ones so they were just different to me in that way. Otherwise they work just the same!

Check out Huggies on Facebook to put these diapers through your own tests http://on.fb.me/HQCj1x or Twitter http://www.twitter.com/Huggies
