Florida’s Natural Orange Juice

Faith and Family Reviews received the following product in exchange for writing a review. While we consider it a privilege to receive free products to review, our reviews are our honest opinion and thoughts of the product.

Orange juice is our favorite breakfast drink. We have tried many, many different brands of pure orange juice and Florida’s Natural ranks in our top two favorite brands. (The other is a organic brand, which I can’t even remember the name of, that we tried years ago). We love the fact that Florida’s Natural comes from the US only. Many brands of pure orange juice (including Tropicana® Pure Premium and Simply Orange®) import their juice from Mexico, China, Brazil, and combine that with the US grown fruit. We like to buy US made products to help support the US economy. We think our food should come from the US and be as local as we can get it. We are not quite at eating foods in season, but it would be nice to get to that point.

We really like to taste of Florida’s Natural. It is really sweet tasting and delicious, like real oranges.

Here’s some product information about Florida’s Natural: Most people think all orange juice is from Florida. But did you know that Tropicana® Pure Premium and Simply Orange® sometimes import their juice? Because Florida’s Natural is owned by Florida growers, every drop of their orange juice comes only from homegrown Florida oranges. Never imported. And supporting American growers is always in style. Food, Inc.

Yes, we are on a food kick. We have seen both of these documentaries that we have posted about this week, but we wanted to revisit them because their message is so very important to the future of our food system here in the USA. I am also hoping to attend a Local Food Round-Table Discussion tonight and wanted to refresh my memory as to the issues of concern. Not that I plan on saying too much. I am more of a silent observer, but if I have to I will be better prepared to voice my opinion if need be.

Food, Inc. has the same basic message as The Future of Food, but presents it in a different way with different people (Michael Pollen, Joel Salatin, a Christian farmer from Virginia, Stoneyfield Yogurt and more). It also deals more with ecoli outbreaks, saving seeds, feed lots and poultry, as well as the farmers and meat packers who work in those industries.

Here’s to the health of not only our families but the health of the whole nation!

Let me know how these documentary movies have affected the way you think.

Auntie Anne’s At Home Baking Kit

Faith and Family Reviews received the following product in exchange for writing a review. While we consider it a privilege to receive free products to review, our reviews are our honest opinion and thoughts of the product. Editor’s Note: I also believe we won this product because we posted about an author’s giveaway… maybe…I also think I am loosing brain cells without my daughter’s help lately since we have been down to one computer!

You have heard of Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, right? Most of you probably know they taste yummy, so you don’t need our review to tell you that fact. However, you may never have tried their At Home Baking Kit. We were not disappointed, it makes exceptional tasting pretzels as well. We forgot to take pictures of our baking experience. It’s pretty hard to remember to take pictures of a food review product when you have ten hungry people waiting to be fed. So forgive us for this oversight! What you would have witnessed is us mixing a very easy pretzel baking mix and then leaving it to rise too long. It did not affect their taste just their look. They were rather thin, not plump and puffy like they should have been.

We would need two pretzel mixes to sufficiently feed our family a decent snack, as we served this box as a side with a meal.

What else can we say? They were very good.

Health & Garden Tuesday: The Future of Food

If you haven’t seen the documentary The Future of Food, then please consider watching it on Netflix or on www.thefutureoffood.com, which is free. It is alarming how big corporations are taking control over our food source. I know the struggle of affording good, quality, naturally or organically and locally grown food, but it is imperative that we do for our health, the health of our children and the health of our nation.

The Future of Food will give you a whole new way of thinking about Genetically Modified food.

Please consider supporting a local farmer this year, either through farmers markets, buying a CSA membership or you can even “purchase” a workershare from your farmer. A workershare is when you work so many hours, usually set by your farmer, in exchange for a CSA box. This is a wonderful opportunity to see where your food comes from, learn about gardening, growing your own vegetables, not to mention the joy of being a part of a local farm and eating what your own hands have helped produce.

***Closed***Popchips a Tasty Treat Giveaway

Congratulations to Ellen! You won this giveaway! Winner chosen by Random.org. Thanks to all who entered and to Popchips for sponsoring this great giveaway!!!

Faith and Family Reviews received the following product in exchange for writing a review, thanks to Popchips.com and Happy Healthy Moms Product Review Team. While we consider it a privilege to receive free products to review, our reviews are our honest opinion and thoughts of the product.

Popchips are an all natural snack. It is a potato chip that is not fried or baked. Popchips are made with a little heat and pressure, then pop! a Popchip has been created. Popchips are seasoned with all natural ingredients, are free of any added preservatives, added colors or flavors. They come in 7 different flavors – Original, Barbeque, Sea Salt & Vinegar, Salt & Pepper, Parmesan Garlic, Cheddar and Sour Cream & Onion. Popchips have less than half the fat of fried chips, no trans fats, no cholesterol and the only flavors to have a teeny tiny bit of saturated fat is sour cream & onion and cheddar, containing .5g of saturated fat.

Popchips.com has a list of all the nutritional facts and ingredients in each bag. Full disclosure. Gotta like that.

We received a sample pack of Popchips. They were actually very yummy. They tasted like potato chips, obviously, right? Yet at the same time they were different. They crunchy to eat, were not greasy like regular potato chips.

Here is our family’s voting results on the Popchips flavors:

#1 Barbeque
#2 Cheddar
#3 Sea Salt & Pepper
#4 Original
#5 Parmesan Garlic
#6 Sour Cream & Onion
#7 Salt & Vinegar

We thought Popchips were a tasty, all natural treat and even though we all had our personal favorites we definitely like Popchips.

For the month of December, Popchips is offering Facebook Fans (old & new) an opportunity to save $1 off their next bag of Popchips! All you have to do is be a Popchips fan (“like”) on facebook. ***Closed***12 Days of Christmas Giveaways – Day 6- Lemon Pepper Panko Review & Giveaway

Congratulations to Karen! You won this giveaway! (and no we aren’t rigging this Random.org really likes Karen! The secret is to tweet, tweet, tweet!)

Thanks to General Mills for providing me with information and for providing product for review and giveaway through MyBlogSpark. Faith and Family Reviews received the following product in exchange for writing a review. While we consider it a privilege to receive free products to review, our reviews are our honest opinion and thoughts of the product.

Sorry, yesterday we were busy Christmas tree hunting, cutting and decorating that I did not get to post our seventh day of Christmas Giveaways in time. So we’ll feature 6 and 7 today.

On the seventh day of Christmas my true love gave to YOU! Lemon Pepper Panko & a Cookbook by Chef Chiarello!

The chef’s secret is out – panko is in! A longtime secret of Japanese cuisine, panko is now a pantry staple for creating perfect crispiness in any dish. This past October, Lemon Pepper joined the ranks of Progresso’s line of panko bread crumbs, which includes Original and Italian flavors.

Whether frying, baking or broiling, this culinary superstar adds a flavorful crunch to create simple, savory recipes. Made from the soft, tender centers of the bread, Progresso Lemon Pepper Panko combines the perfect crunch with effortless flavor to give any dish that extra punch. The large, flaky crumb has a coarser texture than traditional bread crumbs, delivering a lighter, crunchier coating or topping.

My Review:

I was sent Lemon Pepper Panko breadcrumbs and an autographed copy of chef Chiarello’s new cookbook: Michael Chiarello’s Bottega.

I thought that the cookbook was very well written, and I liked that it included a lot of wonderful Italian recipes.

Our family really liked the Lemon Pepper Panko breadcrumbs. We used ours to make breaded chicken and we liked how easy it was to use these bread crumbs. We also loved the taste! Yummy! They were a little hot on the tender tongues of the little ones, but the rest of us loved them. Everyone wanted seconds. Even my husband who tends to be skeptical about new foods loved the Lemon Pepper Panko bread crumbs! The bread crumbs were so tasty that we didn’t have any leftover chicken! Boo hoo, as we tend to like leftovers around here so we don’t have to cook again! Thankfully everyone’s tummy was satisfied.

On to the giveaway:

Enter to win a Lemon Pepper Panko breadcrumbs and an autographed copy of chef Chiarello’s new cookbook: Michael Chiarello’s Bottega!
