Whole Fruit Sorbet is Mmmmm Good!

Whole Fruit Sorbets are an award-winnning member of the Whole Fruit Line by J & J Snack Foods.  They have five delicious flavors: Black Cherry, Mango, Red Raspberry, Lemonade, and Strawberry.  The Whole Fruit Sorbets are sold in 16 fl. oz pint sizes and are made with chunks of real fruit making them naturally fat free!

WholeFruit

I have never been a huge fan of sorbet.  I always preferred ice cream or popsicles if I was in the mood for a fruit flavored treat.  I was pleasantly surprised after trying these Whole Fruit Sorbets.  After the first bite of the Black Cherry sorbet, I was hooked.  It had actual bits of black cherries in it, which proves just how fresh and natural these sorbets are.  The Black Cherry was a little tart, but in a good way.  Next I sampled the Mango flavor.  Talk about a smooth and absolutely refreshing taste!  It instantly reminded me of summertime.  Once the sorbet sits out for a few minutes and melts a little bit, it becomes so creamy and even more delicious.  Red Raspberry was my favorite flavor even though I don’t normally like raspberry anything.  I think it was because it didn’t have an overpowering raspberry taste; it was just enough.  It did have a little bit of an aftertaste.

The last two flavors I sampled, Lemonade and Strawberry, tasted just like italian ices.  Both my husband and I could not believe how amazing they tasted.  So light and refreshing, yet the perfect way to quench the palate!  Even the Strawberry was perfect when normally strawberry flavored icecream and popsicles are too potent and overwhelming.

Overall, you cannot go wrong with any of the Whole Fruit Sorbet flavors.  They all taste delicious, refreshing, and have a smooth taste.  The best part is that you don’t need to eat the whole pint to be satisfied.  The serving size is half a cup, and that was plenty for me.  Whole Fruit Sorbet will definitely be a must have in my freezer from now on.  It’s an excellent treat that you can feel good about eating.

SuperPretzel Pretzel Dogs

What do you get when you combine a cocktail hot dog and a pretzel?  A lot of happy Super Bowl fans!  I had a small family gathering for the Super Bowl and served SuperPreztel Pretzel Dogs.  Besides my lack of mustard, they were a hit!  So much so, that when I was done making sure everyone was settled. They were GONE!

Pretzels 1

SuperPretzel Pretzel Dogs come in 3 flavors – Originial, Cheddar Cheese, and Jalapeno. They are beef hot dogs and are very easy to make!

Preheat your oven to 275 degrees, Place your 12 Pretzel Dogs on a cookie sheet and let them thaw for about 15 minutes. This is a VERY important step. I probably only let mine thaw for 5 minutes and they were not done after the 8 to 9 minutes of baking time. I just baked them a few minutes more until they were done. However, the next time I make these I will let them thaw as the box suggests. There are also instuctions to cook them in the microwave which SuperPretzel recommends over the oven.

Pretzels 2

Your little ones will love these Pretzel Dogs, they are easy for small fingers to handle and fun to eat!

SuperPretzels Preztel Dogs can be found in your local stores freezer section.

Homemade Caramel Candy Recipe – Wordless Wednesday

Homemade Caramel Candy FFR

My daughter was on a baking spree last week. Remember she made the homemade chocolate chip recipe, then what does she go and do? She made a homemade caramel candy recipe. She was making homemade twix bars for our tea party and needed caramel to make them. So she did what any person does these days and turned to Google. She searched for “homemade caramels” and found a recipe for caramels…highly comparable to the brand name caramels you buy for caramel apples in the fall, only now we don’t have to buy them anymore because we have a non-GMO version. B substituted the corn syrup for honey and the regular sugar for organic sugar and the results was a soft, smooth, yummlicious caramel treat. Granted for the purpose of the this post, the caramel candy shown in the photo is more like a caramel square than caramel candy – and eating that much would be a very, very rich treat.

Yum, yum, yum!

Making Memories With Bigelow Tea #AmericaTeas #CBias

Tea parties have always been a delightful pastime in our family. I grew up having tea with my grandmother. That’s where my love of tea started. From the time my girls were little we have been having tea parties too. The tea parties continued as the years went by to include their younger brothers and sister. I think the boys enjoy tea parties as much as the girls! The food and treats might have something to do with that. ;) They remember past tea parties and look forward to future ones with huge smiles on their faces.

Bigelow Tea

Bigelow Tea bursts with flavor and they have such a variety of tea, quite unlike other tea brands. From herbal and decaffeinated to caffeinated flavors there truly is a tea for everyone. Their foil packaging of the individual tea bags do not break open like other brands which use paper packaging. The tea bags are sealed tight making transporting them from one location to another easy and helps keep the tea bags fresh. I personally love the family owned and operated aspect of Bigleow Tea. It definitely means a lot to me as a consumer and business owner myself to support another family owned business.

Making Memories with Bigelow Tea

This past weekend we created a Bigelow Tea moment by hosting a family tea party. We had just run out of tea, so two of my daughters and I went to Walmart to select and purchase some of our favorite (and new) flavors of Bigelow Tea. We were first introduced to Bigelow tea through my mother-in-law and have loved it ever since.

Walmart had three shelves full of Bigelow Tea and I somehow managed to only get a portion of those shelves. The aisle was so busy and every time I went to take a photo someone went by so I thought I had got a shot but actually didn’t.

Preparing for Tea Party 2

My children were giddy with excitement and anticipation of participating in our family tea party. So while the girls and I were at the store the rest of the crew were busy cleaning, baking and preparing for our special tea party.

When we arrived back home everyone else had the table nearly ready and were eager to get started.

We served homemade bread sticks, shortbread, lemon cake and of course Bigelow Tea. It was so nice to sit around the table together on a cold winter day to warm not only our bellies but our spirit of togetherness. The conversation was light we talked about food, what new tea flavors we liked, our home schedule and of course our farming plans. The mood was festive and most of all everyone enjoyed making memories with Bigelow Tea!

Homemade Chocolate Chip Recipe – Wordless Wednesday

Homemade Chocolate Chips 2

Recently my almost 14 year old daughter was thinking if you can make homemade chocolate baking squares why couldn’t you make a homemade chocolate chip recipe. So she did a web search and found a Healthy Chocolate Chip Recipe at Culinary Adventures in the Kitchen. Ours aren’t as pretty, we need a new cake/icing decorator to do what she did, but we don’t care. We just wanted to share what she did. I never would have thought of making my own baking chocolate, let alone chocolate chips.

They tasted good too. Bittersweet rather than semi-sweet but good. B said she’d add more honey or sugar next time for semi-sweet. If you want the recipe check out the website I mentioned above.

Five Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas

Valentine’s Day is less than a month away. I’ve always loved Valentine’s Day. Guess it’s because my parents were romantic enough to get married over 40 years ago on Valentine’s Day. They never had elaborate or fancy ways of celebrating their anniversary but my dad almost always got my mom at least a card. He was very good about stuff like that – thoughtful and giving.

Have you thought about what you will give yourself, your “honey” or children to? We don’t always buy gifts for Valentine’s Day, but I want to share 5 Valentine’s Day gift ideas that we love.

Full Half Dozen Hand-Dipped Sugar Free Strawberries from Shari's Berries

1. Full Half Dozen Hand-Dipped Sugar Free Strawberries
My mother-in-law is a diabetic and this is what we treated her to this year…a little early. She loved them and said they were the best sugar free chocolate treat she’s tasted. She also said that she’s never had chocolate covered strawberries before. I didn’t clarify with her to see if she meant sugar free chocolate dipped strawberries or regular. Regardless she was surprised and loved the treat!

2. Homemade Baked Goods. We usually bake a special Valentine’s Day treat, like heart shaped sugar cookies and let the children decorate them with icing and sprinkles. The cookies are generally part of a themed tea party the children and I host for ourselves on February 14th.

3. Heart Shaped Boxes of Chocolate. In past years my husband’s mom has given the children a heart shaped box of chocolates (with 3-5 chocolates each) and a heart shaped balloon. They love it!

4. Dinner for Two. Dinner could be at home or going out to eat with your sweetie.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

5. Two Full Dozen Hand-Dipped Milk and Dark Strawberries. This year a little earlier than normal we treated ourselves to a couple dozen chocolate dipped strawberries. There were nut, chocolate chips and coconut covering the strawberries too. They were huge and very good. Not as sweet as some smaller berries but still a tasty treat we all enjoyed. These and the hand-dipped sugar free chocolate strawberries are from Berries.com

Shari’s Berries had numerous Valentine’s Day gift ideas from sugar free treats to fruit baskets. It is an easy to use website but when calculating your total be sure to take into consideration taxes and delivery charges, which can add up. I was anticipating the cost but was still surprised at what I ended up spending for a little treat for my mother-in-law.

What are some of your favorite Valentine’s Day gift ideas? Are your children passing out Valentines this year?

“I was given the chance to review a complimentary product from Berries.com.”

Fast Fixin’ Chicken Breast Nuggets

Who doesn’t love chicken nuggets? Especially when it comes to feeding my toddler and my hubbie, chicken nuggets are the easiest, quickest, and now healthiest meal I can throw together in a snap thanks to Fast Fixin’ Chicken Breast Nuggets.

Fast Fixin' Chicken Nuggets

Fast Fixin’ chicken nuggets are made with 25% less fat than the national brand leader. They are also more nutritional compared to other chicken nuggets in calories, calories from fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrates, and fiber.  Fast fixin’ nuggets are made with all natural white meat. The best part is that they taste delicious! Compared to other chicken nuggets, Fast Fixin’ nuggets taste fresher. They are so moist that they almost melt in your mouth. The breading is very light making the nuggets even easier to chew. I would pick Fast Fixin’ nuggets over any other nugget I have tried, and I have tried plenty of different brands! My son even asked for more, which doesn’t happen often. Even their packaging is great. The family size bag is resealable, so no freezer burn.

Find them on Facebook for some great recipe ideas and be sure to check out their website for a $1.00 off coupon!

Divine Mama Bars

Divine Mama Bars are great tasting bars designed for breastfeeding moms to maintain an abundant milk supply. They are 100% all-natural, are created with milk-producing ingredients, and have no artificial sweeteners or processed starches.

Divine Mama bars come in two different flavors, Datey Apricot Cashew and Macnut Chocolate Chip. The Macnut Chocolate Chip was a little sweeter tasting, which is why it was my favorite!  The bars contain fresh ingredients such as macademia nuts, flax seeds, almonds, cashews, and apricots, which are recommended for increasing milk supply. They are a great snack choice for any mom breastfeeding, and would make an excellent gift for a new mom!

Check out their website for more information:

Baby Gourmet…mmm good!

Baby Gourmet is a healthy, organic, and nutritious food for your baby.  They come in three different stages.  Stage 1 is for babies 6 months and older, stage 2 is for babies 7 months and older, and stage 3 is for babies 8 months and older.  All of their foods are organic, contain no thickeners or fillers, contain no added sugar or salt, and are kosher.  Each stage of foods has three different flavors to choose from, for a total of nine different products.

My favorite feature of this product is their packaging. It’s in a resealable pouch that can be served warm or cold.  It does not require any spoon, just squeeze and feed!  It is so convenient to throw in my diaper bag when I know I’m going to be out, and I have a meal already prepared and ready. I can’t wait to bring them with when we go for long car rides.  Rather than pulling over to feed my baby, or trying to feed her with a spoon in the car, I can just feed her the pouch while we are on the move.

I cannot say enough positive things about this product. They taste fantastic (Tropical Banana Bliss was the favorite in our house), are extremely convenient, and are a healthy choice for babies and even toddlers on the go. Here’s their website for more information and to find out where you can buy them:

Softish Throat Drops are Gluten Free and only 5 calories per drop. Softish Throat Drops are available in bags or pucks.

The drops are “softish” and it’s hard not to bite into them.  We received both Wild Cherry and Natural Honey.  Both had a pleasant flavor, but when it came to our favorite – Natural Honey won in our house.
