I don’t know where the days go sometimes. It’s July already. It seems like we have been mostly cooped up with the 90 degree temperatures we have had last week and again this week. Hot. Hot. Hot. It’s teaching our children diligence in taking care of the farm animals. Did I tell you we lost our second bunny due to the heat 2-3 weeks ago? The wind picked up that day and ended up knocking over Darth Vader’s cage, we had checked the chickens and due to having checked the bunny earlier after playing with him none of us thought anything of Darth Vader. Well, the children found him and he must have been at death’s door because no means of cooling him down or giving him water revived him. We’ve had a farmer friend who has said something to the affect that on a farm there is death. We have certainly found that out fast and furiously. Some of the children want to replace the bunnies and some do not. They’ve started a bunny fund, so we’ll see. We are working on visiting a breeder in the area.
Cleaning
Ever feel like you have to spring clean every day, week or month? I do. Sigh. Over the weekend I scrubbed our dining room carpet and steam vac’d it. It was getting so grungy and dirty. Then I had the children working on their rooms and the play room. Thankfully the girls restored the storage room to neatness last week. So we’ll have lots to give away tomorrow when the “give away” truck comes.
I still have to get at the office yet again due to the children having their laser printer in there for printing off coloring pages and things not getting put away after our last event. It looks like a tornado went through it.
Slowly but surely things are getting cleaned again. It feels so good to organize, now if only we could all get into the habit of daily maintenance maybe things wouldn’t get so out of control!?
4th of July Plans
The 4th of July is only a couple of days away. Our children asked if we could have the “cousins” over and my brother-in-law expressed an interest in coming up to see our pooch and the other animals last week, so we are going to see if they have plans. Nothing like the last minute, that’s my husband’s style. I think we will grill something on our camp stove and I found this yummy looking dessert, I can’t remember what it is called but I pinned it so I could find it easily! It’s a Red Velvet Triffle from Rebecca Parrsons at MomItForward.com

Monday Motivation
This is a rambling Monday Motivation, but my brain is in ramble mode. My motivation this week is to get the living room and hallway carpets cleaned. Makes me fell so good to get the house cleaned and sparkling.
I also have some paper work to do….actually a lot of paper work to do between the businesses and getting something completed for my husband.
I have been watching the new season of Extreme Weight Loss, have never watched it before, but that show is really inspiring. That and watching some food documentaries has made me want to try losing weight again. At least I am motivated to, but as far as a plan of action and execution goes…not sure where I am with all that yet. I may kick off that motivation with a Slique Kit giveaway! So come back tomorrow to check out the giveaway and the final review of the last product!
Tell me how you are keeping your pets cool in the heat? Do you have an cleaning projects you are working on? What are your 4th of July plans? What about weight loss goals? Leave me a comment below to tell me.

Have you started your spring cleaning yet? Did Easter gifts put you in the mood to purge? My spring cleaning seems to be ongoing. We’ve done most of the closets – sorting, purging, organizing and packing things away. The garage was started but it’s far from being done. I did get brave and packed up some winter things, not all, after all we are still getting frost. Who knows if we could get another snowfall. This is Chicago.
This week I decided it was time to go through our bathroom medicine cabinet. We do not have a lot in our medicine cabinet, but since it has been several months since we moved, I thought it was time to see what was really lurking behind those doors. We have three sections in our medicine cabinet. One side is mine, the middle is for family and the right side is my husband’s.
My Side of the Medicine Cabinet
The Middle
The middle side has scissors, band aids and thermometers. Pretty bare…
My Husband’s Side
Hmmmm…..what’s down there in the right-hand corner?
I found some interesting dates on some peridontal stuff called Peroxyl, also a Colgate product, in my husband’s side of our medicine cabinet. As I was going through the cabinet my four year old and 20 month old jibber jabbered away at me.
Take a look at these dates, if you look closely enough you can see they are from 2007 and 2009. I had no idea they were that old, neither did my husband.
I promptly threw them into the garbage can.
I found Ibuprofen that is still good ’til 2013 and ear drops good thru 2014.
We definitely had toothbrushes that needed replacing. My youngest daughter, Blondie and I went shopping at Walmart and bought the Colgate Nickelodeon toothbrushes by Dora the Explorer and Spongebob Squarepants. Perfect for our younger children. You can see more of our shopping trip on Google+.
Oral hygiene is important to our family especially since my husband suffered from gum disease several years ago. Let’s just say he’s very good at giving the children reason to brush their teeth!

The NIV Girls Bibles if for girls 9-12 and not only does it have a Bible inside, but it also has a ton of extra features like a dream girl section where girls can use their imaginations, finding out what they have in common with great women of the Bible, words to memorize, and answers to questions that they have always wanted to find out about.
My girls really liked the notes on the side/bottom of the pages and the index in the back too. Most girls will love the frilly pink design and cute flowers that are scattered throughout. It also has a read the Bible in a year index is something that most girls will love and I know that my girls did. They will also love the list of verses to read when you are feeling bad or upset.
The NIV Boys Bible is targeted with boys ages 9-12 in mind. With tons of cool features and devotions designed to strength your boys walk with God parents will love that their boys are leaning values at a young age. The colors and textures in the boy’s Bible will appeal to them since it is very “manly” and they will love the metal cover. They will also love the gross and gory section that features all the weird and cool thing that you never knew was in the Bible. It seems to be very sturdy and I am guessing that it would last through even the most destructive boy.
Both Bibles are really nice and tweens will love the extra features. I’m not too crazy about the hardcover, but I prefer soft cover Bibles so that is just a personal preference. I think that these would make nice bibles for tweens and then you could “upgrade” to a more adult Bible when they reach their teen years and outgrow these.
The NIV Bibles can be purchased at bookstores nationwide and www.Zondervan.com A great last minute Easter gift idea!

This past weekend my family and I went on 2 eggs hunts, with more planned Easter weekend. My daughter had a great time and we enjoyed watching her at the hunts. BUT NOW!!!!
What am I going to do with all these plastic eggs!!!
Sure, I could store them and save them for next year (which I will – for some). I was thinking there’s gotta more uses for these plastic eggs than use them once a year! Right?
There’s TONS of great ideas all over the web! You can make a wreath, store jewelery in them, or my favorite – clean them good and put snacks in them!
Here’s my ideas –
Find an egg carton, put a half of the plastic eggs in there and put paint in them! You have a holder and it’s easy clean up!
Cinco De Mayo is coming in May – Put some beans in the eggs and tape them closed. Easy Maracas!
I have lots of eggs, help me out. What are your ideas?
Come sing the jingle with me. I know you’ve heard it….
and a 1….. and a 2……
“It’s a Pillow, it’s a Pet… It’s a Pillow Pet!”
When Jennifer Telfer observed her sons crunching up their stuffed animals to make pillow out of them, Pillow Pets was born.
Most little kids have a special friend that goes EVERYWHERE with them. The Pillow Pet does double duty. BONUS for me – less to carry. These snugly creatures are very soft and have Velcro under their belly. They also have a flap to cover the sticky part of the Velcro. What began as only 6 Pillow Pets is now a huge line, including Farm, Zoo, Ocean, Fantasy, Sports, Specialty and Disney. Coppins Gifts has a large variety to offer.
My Review:
Sir Horse joined our family and he is very much loved by my daughter. He has gone from the grocery store to the couch. Much to my daughters dismay – the other day she found her Daddy taking a nap on Sir Horse. So, it’s a great product even for adults! I really like the flap to cover the Velcro, it keeps the Velcro clean and it doesn’t catch on everything. Go and buy your kids a Pillow Pet. Or tell the Easter Bunny to bring one as Easter is coming!!
