Mom’s Dream Backyard Oasis #SearsPatio #SummerWithSears #CBias

I love spending outside, especially in the summer. There’s just something relaxing and peaceful about being surrounded by nature. I get that from my mother. We have a beautiful spacious backyard here at the house we are renting. However, the patio is in need of a little love. We only have a couple of lawn chairs and that is the extent of our outdoor furniture.

We really do not have any outdoor decor either. That’s why I scoured Sears online catalog and Outdoor Living section last night and today looking for outdoor furniture and accessories to spice up our sad looking patio.

I have always been somewhat of an early riser. I love early mornings. I dream of creating Mom’s Dream Backyard Oasis. Of course it would be for the whole family but my plan is to use it in the early morning for some alone time. Whether it’s reading or getting a head start on blog posts or client work, I want to have a place to go that is all my own – at least for a short time during the day!

It was so fun to dream and create what I consider my dream backyard oasis. Below you will find my Polyvore Wish Board of most of the items I found that would make my patio more attractive and fun to spend time on. The one thing I did not do is consider cost as I chose things, after all this was a “dream”. When I dream I dream big and dreaming means money is not a factor. Sears does have a Shop Your Way Rewards program, but I did not get a chance to check that out, but I am thinking it might offer some sort of savings for a huge dream project like this. There’s also the Sears local ad to search for budget friendly items too and I think when the time comes for me to seriously plunk down some money for a whole new patio makeover, I would start with the ads, shop sales and watch for promotions.

Sears Style Hub really did not help me in my research, perhaps someone more design focused would find it helpful.

I thought Sears had a great selection and would definitely consider making my purchases there.

My online shopping experience was good. However, I did experience a scripting message last night that froze up my computer causing me to go to bed early to start fresh in the morning. That was one negative thing, the other was Polyvore doesn’t have their themes categorized, at least from what I could see so it took me a long time to find a board for the amount of photos I wanted to use. It was very time consuming. Uploading them to the board took no time at all, which was definitely a plus.

Here are the steps I took, starting with Sears online catalog:

Shopping the Sears Outdoor Living Section

Creating a Polyvore Wish Board

Adding Photos to My Wish Board

My Completed Polyvore Wish Board

The Little Looster Review

“Little Legs Love The Little Looster”, and I couldn’t agree more!  This loo stool wraps around 3 quarters around the potty.  It stands approximately 8 1/2 inches tall, the step at it’s widest is about 8 inches wide and the shortest is 5 inches wide.  So, there’s room to get your child settled.  The Little Looster will make your child feel more comfortable when going potty.  It is very stable and doesn’t rock around.  On the bottom are 8 small rubbery circles that will “grip” your floor.

Here’s what it looks like around our potty.

The Little Looster won NAPPA 2011 Gold Medal, TNPC Winner, and 2011 Seal of Approval.

The Little Looster is available at most baby/children’s stores and online (http://www.littlelooster.com/).  You can visit them on Facebook and Twitter as well.

My Review -

The Little Looster is fantastic for my daughter, who has progressed wonderfully with this product.  So, that makes me super happy.  Her only complaint was that it wasn’t purple.  Mind you it only comes in white. ;)

For the adults, your probably going to have to move The Little Looster to go potty yourself.  But you’d have to move a stool anyway, right?

It’s a great product and love it.  However, I found it to be pricey.  So, gather your coupons from your favorite baby/children’s store and buy it there.  It really is worth it.  My daughter will be using it for a while or until her feet touch the ground.

Faith and Family Reviews received the following product in exchange for writing a review. While we consider it a privilege to receive free products to review, our reviews are our honest opinion and thoughts of the product.

Time for Patio Furniture!

I don’t know about where you live but here in Chicago we have had some amazing weather this March! While this week has been on the cooler side with a bit of rain, we have still been able to go outside and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. Yesterday we even got for a walk. It was incredibly windy and I’m sure I burned of extra calories pushing two little boys in a double stroller! Ha!

With the warmer weather comes thoughts of trips to the zoo, picnics, barbecues and cook outs (open fire). Our family loves to eat meals outside in the summer. At our old house our patio was very open and did not allow for much privacy during dinner for conversation; but that goes with living in a townhouse subdivision. At our new house we have a delightful little patio that overlooks the back fields and is pretty much private. We love it!

There has always been a picnic table adorning our patio, however, when we moved my husband took it apart and gave the pieces of wood to our sons to use for their “creations”. Since then I have missed having something on the patio to sit on. While we do have a few lawn chairs, I have always looked at *real* patio furniture with a bit of envy and regret. The picnic table was practical and functional, but a wee little part of me desired something “prettier”.

Now that we actually need patio furniture I would love to get something a bit more sophisticated than our old picnic table. I really like one of the sets of patio furniture from Bridman. Of course, it is one of the more expensive rattan garden furniture sets…..my mother always did say I had expensive taste! The thing is we’d need something this size for our family, if not bigger when we entertain.

Look at this one has two more places, which help would help when company is over! But what a price tag they have…..woooowhee!

It’s time for patio furniture, however, it probably won’t happen this year so here’s to dreaming about new patio furniture……

Starting Our Seeds: Motivation Monday

Daylight Savings has begun, the days are growing longer and warmer. Signs of spring. Ahhh….the change of seasons is so refreshingly sweet, isn’t it?

It was so nice yesterday and we our box of seeds (Mike the Gardener’s and Johnny’s Seeds) came the other day that my girls were begging me to start planting. I did not have our seed flats or other containers, but we did have plenty of egg cartons that we were saving for when we had our laying hens, so I told the girls to go ahead and use the egg cartons to start the seeds. They went to town and got a lot planted. Then again when you have 5-6 pairs of hands it does not take long to get a job done. They planted veggie seeds and flower seeds.

My motivation this week is to get the rest of our seeds planted that need to be planted so they are ready to put into the ground at the right time. What the children planted yesterday was for their individual gardens, not our big one! We have one table set up in our living room and will probably need to set our other one up once I get my seeds planted. I am hoping it is warm enough and light enough in front of our big window. (Dreaming of the day we have a greenhouse or hoop house!)

We also have to get the tiller serviced so it is ready to go when we start planting outside. I have asked my dear husband to do that job!

Chickens will be ordered but we will plan for them to arrive in April and May. Pretty exciting stuff going on here at Loony Acres!

Playing Piano – Wordless Wednesday

This was meant to be a post a few weeks ago, but when it went live there was not photo and Liz actually caught it. However, when I went looking for the photo couldn’t find it! It was on the other laptop. Sigh. Here it is…finally. We have five children taking piano, and one child who has dropped out. Sniff, sniff.
