Turn your water into soda with SodaStream! This a great concept, and it is very healthy for the environment!
So, how does it work? Glad you asked. If you purchase a SodaStream online, it will be delivered with a caution of hazardous material papers. It’s the Carbon Dioxide used to Carbonate the soda. Assembly is required, however it is very easy. Then end up looking something like this….Next, you will need to take your reusable carbonating bottle, and fill it with water to the fill line (basically the the entire bottle). Put the cap on and put it in the fridge to chill (cold water holds a better carbonation). Once your bottle of water is chilled, take the cap off and tilt the bottle slightly and screw into the SodaStream system.
Pick out your flavor and read the back of the bottle. Check for the number of “buzzes”, most flavors require 3 “buzzes”. However, the cola required 5 “buzzes”. So, make your appropriate “buzzes” and remove your now carbonated water bottle. It will hiss like opening a soda. Then, according to the directions on the back of the bottle. Fill a cap full of soda and pour it into your carbonated water. My recommendation is to do it over the sink, less messy if you miss the bottle. Put the cap back on the bottle and shake slightly to mix.
Then ENJOY! Pictured is Cranberry/Raspberry flavor.
Flavors and Machines
There are 7 different machines to choose from and on the SodaStream site there’s a tool to help you choose which machine fits you best.
You’ll also need to replace the carbonator at some point (not sure yet how long it will last and I didn’t see in the directions or online how long they last, sorry.) SodaStream does suggest to keep an extra around for when yours runs out.
There’s a flavor for everyone! Choose from over 50 flavors in regular, diet, energy, sparkling naturals, sparkling teas, and MyWater Essence flavors.
Each 16.9 ounce of syrup adds up to about 33 – 12 ounces cans of soda! Let’s do some math. If you purchase a 16.9 ounce bottle of Cola from SodaStream which last look was $4.99 and that bottle produces 33 “cans” of soda. That’s a little over $.15 a “can” of SodaStream soda! Sounds like a great deal for me.
My Review -
I’m in love with the SodaStream! It’s fun and healthy for my whole family. Easy to assemble. Granted the machines can get pricey, but the cost of soda makes up for it in my book. My family and I reviewed 3 different kinds of sodas and 1 tea.
Cola – It’s good, it has a “diet” soda taste to it. I hope I’m explaining that okay. Don’t expect it to taste like the big brand colas in the store. We will be buying that one again.
Cranberry / Raspberry - My daughter wanted the “Pink” soda, so this was our next flavor. We all really enjoyed it. It was refreshing and not overwhelming of either flavor. Yet another on our next shopping list.
Green Tea with Pomegranate Peach - My husband’s next choice. I know you all want an honest opinion. Not my favorite flavor, I think the peach made it really sweet and the pomegranate was overwhelming. Just my opinion, again.
Root Beer – When I first tasted it, I instantly thought Sarsaparilla! We had a special treat the other night of SodaStream Root Beer and vanilla ice cream. It was a hit, and will continue having SodaStream Root Beer Floats as a treat! Definitely on the next shopping list!
The initial start up will cost a little bit, but once you get going. I think you’ll make up the cost from buying those big name sodas.

The winter months are hard on the skin and our family is no different. Dry hands, face, elbows and even feet and legs get that scaly cracked skin. This winter my face has been so dry and I cannot figure out why. My husband’s hands have been extra dry and very rough, but he thinks that his frequent use of hand sanitizer may be at the root of his problem. Some of the younger children’s legs have been dry. We do not bathe as often during the winter so it is hard to pin point what is causing the dry skin. It has become my quest to find a solution.
We have tried numerous products and lotion, one has worked better than others but still leaves a greasy residue. That’s why when we were introduced to Dial™ NutriSkin™ I decided to try it. It is new and they are adding extra vitamins and nutrients to it therefore it appealed to me to see what it was like. I went to Walmart since they were having an in-store demo so I could try it before I bought the lotion. I have to be careful what I buy because so many of my children have sensitive skin.
Walmart did not have the full selection of Dial™ NutriSkin™ lotions or body wash. I was really looking forward to trying one of their fruity scented body washes, but they only had two and one was not very fruity smelling. In their lotion, I could only choose from 2 products: Shea Butter and Aloe. The demo lady had a third lotion on the demo table but I forgot to try it after the Aloe because I had so much Aloe on my hands! I liked both in regards to scent, but decided on the Aloe because it was on sale for $3 and the demo lady gave me a coupons for $1 off. I really liked that price compared to the $4 regular price and the $5 price of other brands. So far my hands are still very smooth and soft, not to mention good! My husband just put some on so time will tell Dial™ NutriSkin™ lotion will work for him.
My oldest daughter will be the final judge on this product since she has the most chemical sensitivities.
As a side note, I was talking to a friend this weekend who has eczema and psoriasis and she takes Vitamin D supplements and/or cod liver oil to combat it and it helps. She only does this during the winter months when she doesn’t get enough sunshine.

KitchenKuffs is a great product designed to keep your sleeves out of the way of everyday tasks! I was very excited when I received my KitchenKuffs…I can honestly say that this product has so many uses! Basically the product slips over your sleeves near the wrist area and helps keep your sleeves out of the way of dirt, grime, water, muck…etc. No more continual pushing sleeves up after they slide down…KitchenKuffs keep them up!
I have used KitchenKuffs around the house in so many capacities…especially cooking and washing dishes… they have been invaluable in these two tasks! Once the weather gets warmer I cannot wait to use them while I garden and put up preserves and vegetables in the fall!
I received two pairs, a medium size and an adjustable size. When you visit the website they have a fitting guide so you know which ones to order! When in doubt order the adjustable!
I used the adjustable ones and actually gave the second pair (medium) to my mother. My mom owns an ice cream stand and when I showed them to her she was practically begging me to let her try a pair…so of course I did. She was so excited about how they worked. She usually uses a rubber band to keep her sleeves up when she works serving ice cream and now she has a more comfortable, more fashionable way to keep her sleeves up. Mom also said that she liked that if they got dirty she only had to wash the KitchenKuffs and not her whole jacket!
What a Myriad of uses …KitchenKuffs come in handy in work, play and everyday!

Resumes For Children: 17 Years Old and Under
Ever thought of your child having a resume? If your answer is “no” think again. Your child can participate in these “out of the box” activities to begin to build a great resume.
Choosing activities that provide your child with life skills as well as build character is a key element to their success. Documenting those activities is also a key element to their success. Why? Keeping before them a present visual reminder of their activities, accomplishments, etc., gives encouragement, pride in what they do and have done. It also allows them to see how well they have progressed over the years. In other words, you will assist your child in “behaving” their way to success.
With your child’s résumé you can:
OUR REVIEW:
I thought this was such an interesting book. Before being presented this book I honestly never thought of having a resume for children. But now I see how far this can take a child. You can use this book from toddlers to teenage years. Yes I said toddlers! I think this is a great way to get children thinking. I mean maybe your toddler is not going to write a resume like an older child but you can definitely use some prompts and ask your toddler questions to get them thinking of what they would like to do and become! For example in the toddler years you can ask children to list activities that they are good at and would like to do…this can range from playing blocks to taking dancing lessons. Eventually applying these things to a resume that the child will build.
But enough about a toddlers view… this book will work really well for an older child! This is great to get the child thinking outside of the ordinary…the child is taught how to use the things they have done in their lives (school, camps, odd jobs) and add them to a working resume. The children can then present their resume to anyone who would like to know more about them…perhaps the child would like a summer job …well a resume is a great way to introduce themselves. Perhaps your child is trying to earn money to go to summer camp…then a resume is a great way to introduce who the child is and what the child can and will do… There are endless possibilities to the unique situations that this book can be used!
As a mother I love this book! As a high school teacher and college professor I think this is also great for the high school student! Introduce them to this book at a young age and get them started on writing and honing their resume and they will not be at a loss when it comes to applying to scholarships for college!

This history of this product is fascinating. It started in 1870 and sold to The Life Savers Company in 1930. It was resold a number of times and due to cost cuts the product recipe had been altered. Then the creator of Airborne, Victoria Knight-McDowell acquired Pine Bros. Softish Throat Drops and brought the product back to natural products.
Pine Bros. Softish Throat Drops are available this fall! Currently, Natural Honey and Wild Cherry are out. Lemon-Citrus & Licorice are coming soon!
Check online for availability at a local store or you can order them online!
My Review:
I received 2 ” pucks”, Natural Honey & Wild Cherry. First of all, I love the fact this is a natural product. It’s not as squishy as a Gummy Bear but not hard like a hard cough drop. It’s in between with a desirable texture. I enjoyed both, if I had to pick one. I like the Wild Cherry a little better than Natural Honey.
They were good. However, I didn’t have a soar throat when I tried them. They have a smooth feeling down your throat so, I would assume they would work.
Overall, a great product!

What if you could make your own photo collages, cards, calendars, and scrapbook at home, without fighting with your computer. Here’s your answer the “Picture Collage Maker” by Pearl Mountain Software.
I’m not the most savvy person when it comes to editing photos and making cards. But, this software is very user friendly. With this software you are able to print, create desktop wallpaper, and email.
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, why not bring a collage or calendar for your host/hostess. With this program they have 16 different Thanksgiving templates to choose from. Here are a few.
After choosing a template, you click on photos. It brings up your computer files and you can choose which photos to use. Easily by dragging them into the photo and they “pop” in. No more extra step by having to download pictures first on the Internet. Then drag them. Then having to wait for them in the mail.
Picture Collage Maker also have many other holiday and non holiday templates in addition to Thanksgiving.
I was experimenting with the program. Here’s my Thanksgiving photo of my dog and cats! (If you notice the template is the first one in the above group of pictures)
This is a wonderful and easy program to use. The hardest part was deciding which template to use! I will be spreading the word to all my friends about this product. Here’s their website to download your own Picture Collage Maker! http://www.picturecollagesoftware.com . I had lots of fun, I think you will too!

OUR REVIEW:
We were pleased to review Avery’s see through sticky notes! I currently use Avery’s regular sticky notes … their lined sticky notes are my favorites. However, these have a special place in my heart! They are wonderful for marking documents and being able to see through the note without having to remove it and replace it … risking the loss of the tackiness of the note. One never has to worry about placing and replacing a note again! This is a wonderful innovative product. The notes are great for anyone…anyone who needs to post a note! I especially like that the notes work with ballpoint pens, pencils, and permanent markers…what an array! Finally, each note package had a box top for education on the package…very important for those who collect for their local schools!
