Loving Moments by Leading Lady Review and Giveaway

Going bra shopping has never been one of my favorite things to do. Normally I have to buy them at stores I don’t shop at on a regular basis so I have to make a special trip all the way there. I’m kind of picky when it comes to bras, so after trying them on in the store, I always go home and try them on again to make sure I like them. More often than not, I have to return one or two of them because they felt different when I tried them on at home. Then I have to make another trip back to the store to return them, and restart the process. Needless to say, I only bra shop once or twice a year. When I received the opportunity to review a nursing bra sold exclusively at Wal-Mart I was delighted. How convenient to buy bras at Wal-Mart when I’m already shopping there at least once a week.

Loving Moments by Leading Lady products include nursing bras for everyday, active, sleep and leisure. They also offer nursing camis as well. Normally I wear bras that have an underwire, so I was anxious to try a couple without. The first one I tried was the Cotton Wirefree Nursing Bra that is sold as a 2-pack. In terms of style, they were absolutely adorable! You can choose either black, black dot, pink, or pink dot and then they come with another white bra. Each has strech lace lining at the top that really flatters the chest and is ultra soft. It also gives a lot so you can easily move in it. I like that the cups are seamless so you don’t see any lines through your outerwear and they don’t irritate the skin. The neck line is low enough that you can still wear V-Neck shirts while wearing them. As a nursing bra it was very easy to clasp and unclasp with one hand. Nursing pads fit very easily inside as well. This bra gave so much support, I could not even tell it didn’t have an underwire. Usually by the end of the day I cannot wait to take my bra off and “relax.” I honestly didn’t feel like that wearing this bra. It was so soft and not confining. I definitely recommend this bra to nursing moms!

The other bra I had the chance to try was their Active Wirefree Nursing Bra. I will be honest. I never knew nursing “sports bras” existed. I always just wore regular sports bras when I was nursing and then it was just a pain in the butt when it came time to nurse. This bra was amazing! It was so soft and comfortable to wear. I loved that the shoulder straps were padded and a little wider to help support when I went for my walks and light jogs. This nursing bra was also easy to clasp and unclasp using only one hand and nursing pads fit in easily. I could not believe how comfortable it was for walking and for doing the day to day jobs around the house. I highley recommend this bra as well.

A Smoker and a Non-Smoker’s Ecigarettes Review

As you know, my mom was here for three weeks in March and she’s a smoker. Her first week here right on her birthday she received ecigarettes in the mail. She was anxious to try them. Not because she’s interested in quitting, but because she could smoke inside at the airport or wherever smoking is prohibitive instead of standing out in the cold. It’s my desire she’ll want to quit and slowly reduce the amount of nicotine she inhales, since the ecigarettes do have strong, full, medium, light and no nicotine.

In the ecigarettes kit she received 10 samples of two different flavors of refills, the ecigarette and the adapter. Her samples were the full and medium strengths. The first time, she only took a few drags with the full strength and she said she could have gone out and had a cigarette after using the ecigarettes. We initially thought she could have benefited from having the strong to start out with. Then she tried smoking an ecigarette and took ten drags and said she felt satisfied.

She said it was different smoking with the ecigarette. To be honest, she coughed on her first drag! Mom said that they left an after taste like cigarettes, but old cigarettes. I forgot to ask her if that gradually went away. It’s hard writing a review from another person’s perspective.

For me, it was weird to be near mom while she smoked with the ecigarette because I still had the same reaction as if she was smoking. The vapor I saw reminded me of smoke and my gut reaction was to not want to breath it in or want my children near it. The rare skeptic in me reared it’s head. I was skeptical because when mom smoked she still had to blow out the vapor. I wondered what was in it, was it harmful? Yeah I needed to do more research because I didn’t want to have a false sense of protection from harmful odors and what I was breathing in. Nevertheless, when I did get a whiff of the vapor it smelled like vanilla, the flavor she tried while she was here. It also did not make us cough as cigarette smoke would.

The FDA has not approved ecigarettes nor have there been any clinical studies done. So there is no evidence to prove or disprove any claims about the ecigarettes being better or “healthier”. However, smokers seem to really benefit from them. Even my little sister wanted to try them because she wants to quit smoking. Forgot to ask mom today if she shared any with little sis. Overall, my mom had a fairly positive experience and enjoyed trying something new. She ended up using the ecigarettes when she woke up in the middle of the night so she wouldn’t have to get up and go outside to have a smoke.

I’d recommend you to encourage your smoking relatives to give them a try, especially if they are looking quit smoking.

These are VERY good bars. I enjoyed the flavor and quality of each type of bar.

I was surprised when I opened the package and saw how green the bar was…I was glad because I know I do not eat enough “greens” and this bar is packed full of vital nutrients! This was a very nice alternative for fast fuel ups for workouts! I enjoyed this flavor immensely! These are not a bar but a “chew” reminiscent of a “gummy bear”. These are wonderful performance aides. Since I am not an avid runner or workout aficionado … I gave some samples to my brother who is a power lifter and he attested that they are a great way to boost a workout!

Ecigarettes Giveaway

As you know, my mom is here, and yes we are having a great visit! Mostly staying at home and spending time together, but we have spent Saturdays thrift store shopping. The children are asking, “Why do you have to leave?” She leaves on the 24th. Anyhoo, last week Mom received a box of ecigarettes to try – they even arrived right on her birthday! Great timing, eh? SuperPretzel Pretzel Dogs

What do you get when you combine a cocktail hot dog and a pretzel? A lot of happy Super Bowl fans! I had a small family gathering for the Super Bowl and served SuperPreztel Pretzel Dogs. Besides my lack of mustard, they were a hit! So much so, that when I was done making sure everyone was settled. They were GONE!

SuperPretzel Pretzel Dogs come in 3 flavors – Originial, Cheddar Cheese, and Jalapeno. They are beef hot dogs and are very easy to make!

Preheat your oven to 275 degrees, Place your 12 Pretzel Dogs on a cookie sheet and let them thaw for about 15 minutes. This is a VERY important step. I probably only let mine thaw for 5 minutes and they were not done after the 8 to 9 minutes of baking time. I just baked them a few minutes more until they were done. However, the next time I make these I will let them thaw as the box suggests. There are also instuctions to cook them in the microwave which SuperPretzel recommends over the oven.

Your little ones will love these Pretzel Dogs, they are easy for small fingers to handle and fun to eat!

When a Loved One Smokes

My mom is coming for a visit from Nova Scotia, Canada in March. We haven’t seen her in four years. Yikes! We know. Kind of sad. Usually she prefers not to come visit us in the winter because we are NON-smokers and of course there is no smoking in our home so my mom has to smoke outside. Brrrrr…..It’s not going to be the warmest in March here in Chicagoland. Nah-uh. She asked me to tell the children to figure out a way for her to stay warm when she goes outside to smoke. We have yet to come up with anything. It’s hard when a loved one smokes and you don’t.

Both my parents smoked all during my grown up years. My mom says she couldn’t tolerate smoking while she was pregnant with me because it made her sick, so even from the womb I didn’t like cigarette smoke! My mom was always more conscientious about rolling down her window etc. than my dad was when they were smoking in the car. She’s still like that today. She doesn’t like the children to stand right next to her when she’s smoking and will tell them to move away so they don’t breathe it in. It’s kind of hard for them to stay away from their grandmother for very long when they only see her every several years – she’s not tech savvy so there’s no skype-ing or Facetime going on around here to stay in touch between visits. That’s something we have to work on.

My mom and dad both tried to quit smoking numerous times when I was a child, even trying hypnosis, but to no avail they couldn’t break the nicotine habit.

When my mom comes in March I am hoping to present her with an electric cigarette in hopes that when she tries it she may feel motivated to try to quit smoking again and just maybe, just maybe, that smokers cough will improve too.

Twitten Valentine’s Day Gift Idea

February is here and so is Valentine season. A couple of weeks ago I shared 5 Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas, but I have one more to add to that list. It’s a cutsie kind of gift idea that you could give any couple or yourself.

You remember how Bambi was twitterpated? Perhaps you are “twitten” with your sweetie? Twitten you say? Yes well that’s a new term to add to your vocabulary this winter and Valentine’s Day.

Twitten is a pair of mittens, but better than a pair of mittens when it comes to holding your sweetheart’s hand, as it allows you to really hold their hand and not deal with the bulk of a glove or mitten between your hands. Novel idea, eh? Told you it was a cute gift idea.

Twitten is handmade in Peru. It is hand washable as it is made of 50% Alpaca, 30% Wool and 20% Acrylic. They are very soft. They run a bit large for my hand but they are “one size fits most couples” so as to accommodate many sized hands.

Not only does TWITTEN offer the Twitten, but they also sell Texting Gloves, Texting Mittens, Fingerless Gloves, Hats and Scarves. There are many different colors and patterns to choose from.

I actually love these products. I really want the Texting Mittens! We haven’t had a chance to wear our Twitten or wash it but I am grateful for an extra set of mittens in our house as they tend to slowly disappear as winter goes on.

The Tutor’s Daughter

The Tutor’s Daughter by Julie Klassen is a historical romance mystery novel. I was grateful that it was centered more around the mystery aspect, along with the heroine’s jumbled feelings over two men with whom she spent part of her younger years growing up.

It’s about the daughter of a professor who travels with her father as he goes to a baronet’s home to tutor his two younger sons, who are spoiled beyond belief.

I liked that The Tutor’s Daughter had a Downton Abbey feel to it. All the social niceties that Britain during that time period was known for, where the socialites looked down their noses at the working class and the working class desired to make life better for the poor. The book write up said that Julie Klassen loves Jane Eyre and Jane Austen, thus the reason her novel is set in England and why I made the association with Downton Abbey since it is a more recent English show I have watched.

This book pretty much kept me guessing throughout the whole book as who the so-called “prankster” was, pulling not-so- friendly pranks on poor Emma.

It seems that characters with a past often have to overcome it or prove themselves in spite of the shadows darkening its path. Henry Weston was that character. He was more gallant than his childhood character ever revealed. I loved how nobly he stuck up for one individual in particular.

Overall, I really enjoyed The Tutor’s Daughter and have already been thinking about reading it again, which is always a good sign.
