VetIQ Minties Dental Treats for Dogs

FFR partnered post

We love our dog. Once he hit two it was like a switch went on in his brain and all the training the children put into him all seemed to pay off. He’s a good pooch. As you all know we feed him as we feed ourselves, basically. We buy him dog treats on special occasions. That’s why I wanted to try VetIQ Minties Dental Treats for Dogs.

Last summer when the vet was here to give Padfoot his rabies shot, he commented on how white Padfoot’s teeth are. The fact that the vet opened and showed his assistant and made that comment told me that he was surprised. So it’s not that we were concerned about Padfoot’s teeth or even his breath, it was more like I was curious as I usually am when a new product comes across my path.

Minties dental soft chews and bones are actually made with pretty healthy ingredients, which I like. I also like the fact that the products and ingredients are made right here in the good old U.S.A.

FFR Minties and Padfoot Collage

Minties Bones

Padfoot loved Minties Bones and our younger sons loved feeding them to him! The only thing I didn’t like about these was the fact only four came in a package!

“Ingredients of Minties:

Rice Flour, Vegetable Glycerin, Water, Natural Chicken Flavor, Calcium Carbonate, Lecithin, Garlic, Tricalcium Phosphate, Brewers Dried Yeast, Chlorophyll (Sodium Copper Chlorophyllin), Parsley, Fennel, Dill, Peppermint, Cholecalciferol (Source of Vitamin D3), Mixed Tocopherols (Natural Source of Vitamin E)”

Minties Breath Fresh Soft Chews

There were more Minties Breath Fresh soft chews in the bag but they are smaller portions. Again Padfoot loved them and sat pretty for his treat. One thing I didn’t get a chance to do was smell Padfoot’s breath after he ate these products. It’s neither here nor there because he doesn’t have regular bad breath. Both products do smell good on their own. Update: My daughter just said Padfoot’s breath smells good after he has his Minties. :)

VetIQ has several different dental products for dogs, plus other lines of products. Each one comes in various sized bags, amounts and according to the size of your dog. You can check out other VetIQ products here: http://www.vetiq.com/products/

Stonyfield Greek Yogurt

FFR image for posts

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, our family loves yogurt. We recently tried Stoneyfield Greek Yogurt. It was delicious.

stonyfield greek yogurt-logo_0

Did you know Greek yogurt has 20% of the recommended daily allowance of protein? And 30% of calcium? Greek yogurt also contains half the carbohydrates compared to regular yogurt — 5 to 8 grams per serving compared with 13 to 17! (Source: US News)

The store we where bought our Stonyfield Greek Yogurt only had Super Fruits, Blueberry, Strawberry Banana and I think that’s it. I can’t wait to try the other flavors. The night my husband brought the yogurt home everyone was hungry and I didn’t even get a chance to take personal photos! If we get to the store this weekend for more, I’ll try to take photos and add them!

Rescue Pups

FFR image for posts

I have recently just started using ebooks on my iPad.  My four year old son is pretty tech savvy now and enjoys reading ebooks on my iPad as well. We had the pleasure of reading Rescue Pups: The Adventures of Maxwell and Kota.  It is written by Bonnie Bentley and Lindsay Gamache, and illustrated by Kimberly Solderberg.

RescuePups1

The story is about a dog who is rescued by a family and meets other dogs on his walk through the neighborhood. The other dogs laugh at him when they find out he doesn’t know where he came from. Eventually he meets another dog who turns out to be adopted as well.  They become good friends and enjoy playing with each other.  They team up together to save another dog who is stuck in a fence, hence “Rescue Pups.”  The themes of the story include friendship and adoption.

Rescuepups2

My son really enjoyed the book. He loved that one of the dogs in the story was a doberman pinscher since we have a doberman at home as a pet (who happens to be a rescue).  I loved that the story was a read aloud version. The voices reading were very kid friendly and nice to listen to.  The pictures from the book were very colorful, yet simple and easy to focus on.  The story line was great. My son wanted to read it over and over and over again.

Rescuepups3

Overall it was a great ebook, with wonderful life lessons. The suggested age for the ebook is 3-6.  I would definitely recommend it, and hope they write more in the future! You can download your copy by visiting

Baby Mum-Mum

FFR image for posts

My kids are snack machines. I let them each have two snacks a day. One after their naps in the afternoon, and one at night while we are reading books before bed. I am always looking for a healthy snack to feed them. Trying to find a healthy and delicious tasting snack for kids is not always easy. Fruit is always a good option, but not always convenient when we are on the go. Baby Mum-Mum has come to the rescue!

Baby Mum-Mum offers a variety of snacks for babies, toddlers, and children. I absolutely love that all of their snacks are all-natural, gluten free, allergen free, contain no preservatives, and have no artificial colors or flavors. The best part is Baby Mum-Mums are individually wrapped so they are super easy to throw in my purse or diaper bag when I’m on the go. They are sold in three different stages.

MumMums1

Baby Mum-Mums are rice rusks for babies, and can be their first solid food. They come in flavors original, vegetable, banana, organic original, and apple. Toddler Mum-Mums are for toddlers 18 months and older and come in flavors organic strawberry, apple, and banana.  Mum-Mum Snax are for children 4-12 years old and come in flavors white cheddar, apple cinnamon, and strawberry banana.

MumMums2

I let my one year old try the Baby Mum-Mums and her favorite was the vegetable flavor. This is great since she’s not the biggest fan of regular vegetables; I have to hide them in her applesauce. Each package contained two rusks. I gave her one rusk, she took a bite and LOVED it. They are perfect for her since they dissolve in her mouth. I’ve never seen her eat a snack so fast!  Now I throw them in my purse when I go shopping and it’s very easy for her to feed herself while sitting in the shopping cart. They are perfect size for her hands and the best part is they don’t make a mess.

MumMums3

I wish I had found Baby Mum-Mums sooner for my kids. They are a great snack, very convenient, healthy, and easy on the wallet. They can be found at many major stores including Target and Walgreens. I will be recommending them to all of my friends with babies.  Baby Mum-Mums are a great product!  To learn more about Baby Mum-Mums, visit their website at

Cleaning just started smelling better in my house!  Many thanks to Mrs. Meyer’s brand cleaners, I no longer have a harsh chemical smell my kitchen.  It now smells of geraniums and it’s so refreshing!  All of Mrs. Meyer’s products are “cruelty free, not tested on animals and are all biodegradable. “ myers

I was happy to test of the following products all are scented in geranium:

Mrs. Meyer’s Liquid Dish Soap – At least 97% of the ingredients are naturally derived.  It has essential oils that get the grim off dishes.  Yet it is safe for you and our environment.

Mrs. Meyer’s Liquid Hand Soap – The hand soap also has essential oils that are easy and soft of your hands and it smells great!

Mrs. Meyers’s Counter Top Spray – Just spray this product on no-porous counter tops and whip away the dirt.

Mrs. Meyer’s has a wonderful line of products to choose from, including household cleaners, hand & body, laundry, and air fresheners.  You can choose from 14 different scents, ranging from radish to baby blossom.

I really enjoyed these products no only do they smell good, they clean really well also.

Sharkk Car Charger Review

FFR image for posts 61FIE35PRWL._SL1500_

Sharkk Car Charger

I found a great product!!! Love it … Love it!!

group-car-usb

This is a great car charge that charges up to two USB devices in the cigarette lighter of your car. This is a great for charging any technology device. I use it to charge both my phone and my Bluetooth. I am never scurrying to find an outlet… I can just charge both from the car! The best part is that I can drive, use my devices, and charge at the same time!

The other great attributes are the changeable non-slip grip area of the charger. You can interchange the grip from white to black, kind of fun… but having that extra grippage while driving if needing to plug or unplug can come in handy!

Here are the specs of the device!

  •  Charge status indicating 2 color light. Use with your own device charging cable. Good for all portable devices like cameras, cell phones, mp3 players, tablets. Input: DC 12–24 V

  • One Output (iPad port) : DC Max 5.0V 2100mA for iPads, Tablets and GOS

  • Second Output (iPhone Port) : DC Max 5.0V 500mA for Phone, MP3 players and iPods.

  • Dual Output: DC Max 5.0V 1600mA (iPad port), DC Max 5.0V 500mA (iPhone port)

Home Run – Movie Monday

Home Run DVD_Blu_ray

We found quite a few faith based movies on Amazon Prime (we are members). Some of them you have to pay for but a couple of them are free right now. One of the ones we watched for free this past weekend was called “Home Run”. It is about a professional baseball player, Cory Brand played by Scott Elrod, who struggles with alcohol addiction. It is set in Cory’s hometown where he finds himself after a car wreck and DUI. In order to avoid jail time, Cory is required to coach a little league baseball team, all the while trying to salvage his career and reputation.

The little league team, his 12 step program and his family all play a part in helping Cory, but ultimately it is God who gets Cory’s attention.

As sobering as alcohol addiction is, this movie was entertaining with a powerful message. We really liked it. To be honest, I felt sorry for Cory, as he dealt with his “demons”. I felt bad for his family who had to deal with him and his “problem”. I grew up in a home where alcoholism was a huge part of our life. It has devastating affects and it forever gave me an extreme dislike for anything alcohol related. While my loved one never found the freedom Cory did in this movie, it is my hope that those struggling with any addiction find help and freedom only Christ can bring through His healing grace.

This movie is rated PG-13 for mature thematic material, or in my opinion, the violent outbursts, the drinking scenes and subjects discussed in group therapy. We let our children under 13 watch it. We’ve discussed alcoholism with them before, the other mature themes seem to have gone over their heads because they didn’t illicit any questions from our children.

When The Cypress Whispers by Yvette Manessis Corporon

FFR image for posts

When the Cypress Whispers

This review was done by my daughter B and contains affiliate links to support our family.

When the Cypress Whispers is about the daughter of Greek immigrants, Daphne. She was brought up to believe in the American dream. After a tragic event leaving her basically at rock bottom, she puts her all into opening a Greek restaurant. She returns to Erikousa, a magical Greek island she grew up visiting and to her Yia-Yia (grandmother).

When the Cypress Whispers is a good book. I would read it again. I figured out almost everything before the end, but I’m used to that now since I read a lot. I wasn’t even trying.

This book made me cry. The characters were good and well rounded. I loved the setting and the use of the Greek language. I wrote down four pages (small pages), eight front and back, from it.

There was a “oogie” part (Theresa here, I think she’s referring to a kissing or intimate scene), I wasn’t sure if it would become anything else so I skipped it.

Greece felt real, it was like I was there and it was amazing.

I loved the myth stories from ancient times, I’m big on that anyways. I loved learning about Greek mythology. I loved Daphne’s connection with her Yia-Yia (grandmother).

I didn’t think the end would happen quite like it did, but I was glad and liked the ending.
