Mission Belt Review

belt 4

My husband is always having problems finding a belt that fits him comfortably.  Well, with Mission Belt Co., no need to look any further!  My husband has been wearing his Mission Belt to work daily and he loves it.  It’s easy to use and he is able to adjust the belt when needed.  We received the Mission Belt “Iron” in black leather.  The silver tone of the buckle is given a vintage look to it and yes it’s actually leather!  The buckle is heavy yet not intrusive.

The Mission Belt Co. has a special belt with no holes. The underside of the belt has these rivet looking teeth that when you slide the belt it clicks into spot. Normal belt holes are spaced at 1 inch apart, the Mission Belt adjusts to ¼ inch.  When it’s time to take off the belt, you just push the release lever up and slide the belt out of the buckle.  Easy right!?

#37 Saturday Top Five Laughs

Saturdays Top Laughs dentistmelsbbutton-11

I slacked off from doing my Saturday Top Five Laughs posts for the past month because life has had me in a whirlwind and to be honest there has been very little thought to what has been funny lately. Weird how our thoughts and circumstances can rob us of every day joy and laughter. Thought it was time to step up and re-join The Mommyhood Chronicles on week #37 (for us)!

5. Our six year old asked who invented kissing or why do people kiss? And before I could respond, our four year old said, “Because them married.” Nice logic, eh?

4. Our 14 year old daughter got peed on by one of our cats and said she now smelled like dead mice. Our 15 year old daughter told her it was because it (the pee) was MADE of dead mice.

3. Our 15 year old was feeding her baby goat raspberries and because B was not feeding him fast enough, he jumped up on her as if to say, “Come on, I’m hungry!” It was cute.

2. Hermes, our calf, has been giving the girls milk kisses and slobber at milking. They are milking twice a day and he has his side and they have their side. He seems to be finally getting use to them and is showing his affection! O got milk slobber in her hair this morning when Hermes sucked on her hair! Silly calf!

1. My little 11 month old niece cried when my mom’s dog sniffed her! Poor little thing, but I did have a chuckle.

First Milking Experience – Wordless Wednesday

I always said B’s first milking experience was when we visited a working farm in Schaumburg, IL called, Volkening Heritage Farm at Spring Valley…but then I came across this photo not too long ago. It is funny because it kind of predicted the future. What was a fun little homeschool activity turned into what real life would be like 12-13 years down the road. B milking, B has the bonnet on, with O helping her. O is standing at the chair by B’s side.

FFR B's first milking experience

By the way the Volkening Heritage Farm is an awesome place to visit as a family. For a few years we went there after an early 8:30am morning church service and visited the farm. Some Sundays we just walked, other Sundays we participated in farm events. One of which was B’s first time milking a real, live cow. She went to its tail first! She was only four at the time and had never been around a cow. It still makes us chuckle.

Gotta love memories, eh? What memory made you smile this week.

A Promise to Protect by Patricia Bradley

FFR image for posts

A Promise to Protect by Patricia Bradley

A Promise to Protect by Patricia Bradley is the second book in the Logan Point series. You can read my review of the first book, Shadows of the Past here. These are Romantic Suspense novels from a Christian point of view.

Leigh Somerall is one of the main characters and her years of deceit kept me rooting for her to come out with the truth. Sheriff Ben Logan was the “hero” of the story, though, certain characters seemed bent on keeping him from remaining Sheriff of Logan Point. I loved the small town of Logan Point and how the town worked together and looked out for each other, with the exception of a few oddball characters.

I liked relationship Leigh developed with the Logan family. I despised the senseless acts of violence by the villains.

I could not relate to Leigh’s deceitfulness but I could relate to Ben’s effort to forgive himself and others. It was good to see these two characters work through their issues and come to a happy place in their lives.

I know I read so many of these books in the course of a year that I feel very repetitious! They are my mindless candy reads, I don’t have to think other than who the suspect, villain or murderer is, so these books are more for my entertainment than anything else. I get my intellectual reads elsewhere and I do not generally blog about them because it takes me much longer to get through those kinds of books!

While the romance aspect is generally predictable, the suspenseful plot did keep me guessing with its twists and turns. I was kept wanting to read to find out the who, what, when and where part of the mystery.

Overall, I liked the book, though I have not decided if it would be one I would read again.

Fall Fun – Wordless Wednesday

Our children have always loved playing in the leaves in the fall. When they were really little they had to go to grandma’s or the park to play in them. This year is no different even with a few of them in their teens! They have just as much fun as they did when they were younger. Our boys pretended the leaf pile was a ship today and used the rakes poking out of the leaves to be their cannons or guns. Pretty clever. Glad they still have an imagination!

P.S. They appear closer to the road than they actually are because there is a dipped stretch of grass between the lawn and the shoulder of the road. Our children are usually not allowed to play out in the front yard. However, we have more trees out front than out back so for fall fun and under supervision they can.

Baby Mantra

IMG_2632

“I participated in Influencer Activation on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Baby Mantra. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for participating.” www.momcentralconsulting.com

My children’s skin is very important to me. I always try my best to use the most gentlest of products on their delicate bodies.  Finding all natural products are always a challenge.  When I heard of Baby Mantra products I couldn’t wait to try them.  Their all natural, cruelty-free, and gluten-free products are all made in the U.S.

IMG_2631

I have two children, an 18 month old daughter and an almost 5 year old son.  Both of them have very sensitive skin so I have to be careful with what I use.  Each night they both get a bath individually.  Typically I add soap to my daughter’s bath and use that to wash her.  For my son, I put soap on a washcloth and wash him at the end of his bath.  Then I thoroughly rinse him so he doesn’t get a rash. Immediately after I dry each of them, and then give them a massage with soothing lotion. Baby Mantra’s products fit very well into my routine.

I absolutely loved using the 3-in-1 Bubble Bath + Shampoo + Wash. A little goes a long way. I put in a few drops for my daughter’s bath and it created lots of bubbles; she loved it!  The smell was very calming and relaxing, not overbearing at all.  The soap made her skin feel very soft.  For my son, it worked better when I just put it on a washcloth and washed him. I tried adding the wash to his bathwater since sometimes he likes bubbles. Unfortunately he broke out in a rash the next day.  As long as I rinsed him after washing, there was no problem.  The 3-in-1 Bubble Bath + Shampoo + Wash is made with natural ingredients including Aloe Vera and Lavender.

Baby Mantra’s Calming Lotion was my favorite. Massaging my children’s skin with it after baths was a very relaxing time.  The lotion was very creamy and the smell was wonderful. A little went a long way with the convenient pump feature.  It made my children’s skin feel nice and soft. Even the next morning their skin was still soft.  Baby Mantra’s Calming Lotion is made with natural ingredients including Shea Butter, Lavender Oil, Olive Oil, and Sage Oil.

Baby Mantra offers a variety of skin care products for babies, kids, and adults. Some of their other products include Calming Massage Oil, Newborn Shampoo & Body Wash, and Detangling Conditioner.  All of their products contain natural ingredients such as Avocado, Sunflower Seed, Mango Butter, and Wheat Germ.

Baby Mantra products are available at the following stores:

    Girls Shampoo

boys-hair-3-in-1-shampoo-AA

The Boys 3 in 1 is an AWESOME product! This is a great product for boys because it can be used as shampoo, body wash and conditioner…WOW! This product is just right for kids on the go who need to grab and go and not worry about fussing with extra body washes or conditioners! We found that this product works well when we go to the indoor swimming pool and shower afterward… it works great for the whole family to use as a 3 in 1 for a quick shower after swimming! We also love that it is specially formulated for children because                                        as we all know children’s skin is more delicate than an                                        adults skin. This product is made from the mildest plant                                      based ingredients!

girls-hair-shampoo_AAAlthough we wish there was a 3 in 1 for girls… we DID LOVE the Girls Shampoo! This was such a nice fragrant shampoo… that is specially formulated for young ladies hair! I have two daughters and this was a treat for them to use. Both of my daughters thought their hair felt smooth and soft after use! Again we love that this is formulated for children and made from the mildest plant ingredients as to avoid irritation, which is important to us!

natural-organic-4d

What about price? The Just Naturals line of products are VERY     well priced for organic/natural products… they offer larger           sizes for a great price! At a farmers market or retail store you     cannot get the larger sizing or the QUALITY!!!

Please take a moment to visit justnaturalskincare.com you will not be displeased! Their products are SO awesome I cannot wait to try other items from their product line.

Their products can also be found on Amazon.com!

Missing Calf – Wordless Wednesday

Loony Acres Comet-Calf Nursing 100114

Missing Calf – Crazy Calf and Cow Escapades!

Our new calf went missing for 24 hours over the weekend. Thankfully, we found him and brought him back safe and sound. The “crew” found him at our neighbors 3-4 houses down. Not a mark on him. But what a scare! Now he and his mama are locked in their stall until we can get the electric fencing fixed, powerful enough and calf proof.

Then our older cow, Miss Moo, went into heat about a week early. We had someone tell us that the smell of Comet (our heifer that gave birth) could have triggered her heat. The farm who is willing to take her to their farm for a date with their bull could not come and get her due to their trailer being full of hay. So in two weeks Miss Moo will get her date with a bull! Anyhoo, this heat made Moo crazier than normal. She has been charging through fencing, chasing cars – our pasture runs along a busy rural road and she was running with the cars back and forth! She was trying to mate anything and everything not tied down or so it seemed. We had to separate her from Comet so Comet and the calf wouldn’t get hurt.

We really think Miss Moo has calf fever! She really wants a calf it seems. Here’s to hoping her date with the bull goes very well in a couple of weeks! Had an online friend call both these situations “cowrazy” funny or what?!
