Deceived by Irene Hannon

Deceived by Irene Hannon

Deceived is another romantic suspense novel written by Irene Hannon. I have read several other books written by Irene. This particular novel is a heart wrenching. Every parent’s worse nightmare, actually.

Have you seen MTV’s new TV series “Finding Carter”? If you have and liked the basis of it (minus the teen-agey stuff), then you will like Deceived, even with its Christian overtures. I do not usually watch MTV and thought it was mostly music videos but when I found this series I was intrigued.

The romantic side is a little sappy but the story of Kate’s first love was endearingly sad. I felt her grief over the loss of her husband and her son. I was pulled in by Kate spotting a child who looked strikingly familiar to her own son, in a chance encounter on a mall escalator of all things!

I did not want to put this book down. I wanted to read it and follow Kate as she followed her instincts. I enjoyed the twists and turns, as well as the grand conclusion. I would have liked to have seen more of a development between Kate and the child she thought she saw. But overall, I was not disappointed in Deceived. I am rather sad the Private Justice series has come to an end, but am excited to see Irene has a new series coming out in 2015 called Men of Valor Buried Secrets.

Our heifer, Comet, finally gave birth to a bull calf yesterday about midday. Hubby was the one to discover our newest addition, as he did with the goats.

No name yet. But he’s a cute calf!

Scripture Talk – Making Bible Memory Fun through Hand Motions – And Giveaway

DVD-Case---Gradient-BackdropSM

We have been lax in our scripture memory of late. We usually just sit around the table or living room and quote it in a sing song voice. Sometimes we have been known to clap or march as well, especially when the children were younger. In our busy household, I am always interested in new ways to teach our children scripture. When the opportunity to review “Scripture Talk – Making Bible Memory Fun through Hand Motions” DVD came across my email. I said yes.

Scripture Talk – Making Bible Memory Fun through Hand Motions

The DVD uses fun, active hand motions, creative teaching, and visual aids to help children memorize 79 verses of Scripture (from 10 passages) and also know how to apply the Scripture to their lives. We have seen dozens of children of all ages (2 years to 18 years) use this method, and get excited about memorizing large amounts of Scripture in a short amount of time!

Scripture Talk Review

Our children really like watching Scripture Talk. After a few days they were coming to me quoting scripture, or portions of scripture while doing the hand motions. Here is what each of our younger children had to say:

14 year old daughter, “I really like it. It was very encouraging. It helped me with memorizing. I like all the teachers.”

12 year old son, “It was encouraging.”

11 year old son, “I liked it. It was funny. I memorized a verse. My favorite teacher is Mr. Richard.”

8 year old daughter, “I love it. I memorized a verse. The bloopers were really funny. The teachers were awesome. My favorite teacher is Miss Kate.”

6 year old son, “I loved it. I really liked the bloopers.”

4 year old son, “I hate it.” He did grumble the most when it was time to watch it. But he also just said last night that he liked it. So he is being a flip-flop!

I liked that I could let them sit down and watch the DVD without having to worry about the content. It gave me some peace and quiet to get my work done, which is very helpful to this busy mama.

To learn more about the DVD, you can visit www.scripturetalkministries.com. On the “Media” page of their site, you can find a promo video to see sample footage of the DVD. Scripture Talk was also featured on the Duggar family’s blog – http://duggarsblog.blogspot.com/2014/06/scripture-talk-giveaway.html

Crave Naturals Review

FFR image for posts

We are please to introduce two great new products from CRAVE Naturals! These great beauty finds are sure to join your beauty routine!

crave-naturals-logo

box_render_5-copyThe first product is the Whiplash Eyelash curler. Now I must admit I have not used an eyelash curler in about 10 years…but I used to use one all the time! Since receiving this product to review I will be using one more often! My old eyelash curler used to pull  at my lashes when I crimped them with the curler…and sometimes the lashes would stick to the pads. This curler, however, is pain free, no pinching! I did not feel any discomfort when using the product like I have in the past with other products. The curler gave nice definition to my lashes and prepped them for my mascara by adding a nice curl. I LOVE the fact that the curler comes with extra pads!! This is SO important the pads get dirty and can cause eye infection so you do need to change them periodically!

The second product is the eyebrow and  eyelash kit. This is a great 4 in 2 kit! The  product works wonders for shaping and  defining brows as well as separating and  defining eyelashes! I LOVE the angled brush  for adding color to the brows for extra  definition!

The best thing about the crave products is that they have a LIFETIME Guarantee. This is a great attribute for beauty products!

You can view these products and all crave products at  http://www.icravenaturals.com  … they also have a 25% off coupon on their website!

OUR REVIEW:
This was such a refreshing prayer book to review! I was very excited to flip through the pages and see that it really IS geared toward children! The books easy-to-use format and simplified language makes this book perfect for little minds! The author really did a great job of creating prayers just for children.
The prayers fall into all occasions… school, holidays, pets, thank you, nighttime…etc. The simple prayers are great for home, school, and church …there are so many wonderful prayers it is hard not to list them all! Anything a child might be thinking of has a prayer in this wonderful book!
Aside from the beautifully penned text and cheerful illustrations, I was also excited to see a wonderful bookplate to inscribe if giving as a gift… this always makes these types of books special!

This book and many others are carried by Kregel Publications

Blog Forward 2014 Challenge #3 by ZonePerfect

Although I have entered the Blog Forward program and received complimentary product and ZonePerfect promotional items, I am free to comment about ZonePerfect in a positive, neutral or negative fashion.

ZonePerfect Blog Forward 2014 Challenge

Blog Forward 2014 Challenge #3 by ZonePerfect

You may or may not remember my earlier posts for the ZonePerfect Challenge #1 and Challenge #2. Here I am again for Challenge #3, which is:

Challenge #3: How you feel your progress has gone so far? Review the letter you wrote in the beginning of the year. How do you plan to recharge and renew the excitement you felt in the beginning of the year to get yourself through the year successfully?

A Review of My New Year’s Resolutions

You all know I don’t make resolutions so here is my “loose” list of goals for 2014:

1. Increase our income. (I *think* God is well on His way to answering this prayer…need a bit more time to be sure.)

2. Nutrition. Eat and grow more vegetables to we can freeze and can our winter supply.

3. Take our children on more field trips.

4. Get more organized as a whole family – mostly the house as it is an ongoing battle, that and getting the children to stay on task.

On to Challenge #3

How am I progressing?

  • I would say baby steps. I’m continuing to work on organization in our home and trying to teach everyone else how to contribute to that organization. This is a constant issue in our home, even with older children.
  • We have taken the children on a couple more field trips – the Young Flyers day, apple picking, berry picking – but funds are limited so we will be planning to take advantage of free museum days.
  • Nutritionally, we are doing ok, but have not been able to grow enough to can or freeze because of our commitment to our CSA members. But at least we got to eat from our garden more this year than we did last year!

My only plan is to continue focusing on 3 and 4. Especially 3, as family is important and the more we time we spend together, the more memories we will make. Children are only children for so long and we want to enjoy them as much as possible.
