We were elated to be able to review the loom boom! Our house is overrun with bracelets and rubber bands from the rainbow loom craze! We have 3 rainbow looms in our house so you can imagine our stock of bracelets!

We LOVE the fact that the Loom Boom is portable and big enough to store the bracelets and he collection tray at the bottom is great for storing unused rubber bands, loom rings or projects in the making!

The other fact I liked as a mom was that it was invented by a child! How great to be able to say to my children that a fellow rainbow loom enthusiast invented this product!

We have been looking for something similar and my daughter had even dabbled in making a holder out of duct tape but once we got a hold of this product we were sold! This is such a great invention!

Loom Boom can be found at your local Learning Express or Michael’s stores. I have also seen it at Amazon and Toysrus.com!

Mother’s Day Gift Idea: The Greek Yogurt in the Kitchen Cookbook

FFR image for posts

The Greek Yogurt Kitchen Book Cover

As I mentioned before, we love Greek yogurt so when the opportunity to review The Greek Yogurt in the Kitchen Cookbook I took it. I really like the looks of the Eggs Benedict recipe so I have shared it below.

This cookbook would be a great Mother’s Day gift for you or your own mother. It contains over 130 recipes with meal ideas for breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert. It also explains the health benefits of Greek Yogurt. I am really looking forward to trying new recipes, which is a change for me because I usually dread it because my family doesn’t really adapt well to new things, at least certain ones.

You can find The Greek Yogurt in the Kitchen Cookbook at any major book retailer.

Recipe from The Greek Yogurt in the Kitchen Cookbook

Eggs Benedict-6593

Eggs Benedict with Lighter Hollandaise
Serves 4

Hollandaise sauce is typically made with a stick or two of butter to serve four people. The fat and calories can easily be slashed by substituting nonfat Greek yogurt for much of the butter, while still using a touch of butter to maintain the traditional flavor.

Ingredients:
2 teaspoons unseasoned rice vinegar
4 large eggs
2 whole wheat English muffins
Cooking spray
4 slices turkey bacon (about 1/4 pound)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter at room temperature
2 cloves garlic, minced
12 medium asparagus spears, tough ends snapped off
1/2 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
2 large egg yolks
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/8 teaspoon kosher salt

Directions:
In a large saucepan, bring 6 cups water to a boil over high heat.
Add the vinegar and lower the heat until it is no longer at a rolling boil.
Crack an egg into a small cup, dish, or wineglass.
Holding it near the surface of the water, gently slide the egg into the hot water.
Repeat with the remaining eggs.
Cover the saucepan and allow the eggs to cook for exactly 6 minutes.
Remove each egg carefully with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel.
Toast the English muffins.
Coat a medium skillet with cooking spray and heat it over medium heat.
Cook the bacon until cooked through, 2 to 3 minutes on each side.
Place a slice of bacon on each toasted English muffin half.
In the same skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of the butter over medium heat.
Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
Add the asparagus, cover the pan, and cook, tossing occasionally, until tender, about 8 minutes.
In a medium bowl, whisk the remaining 1 tablespoon butter with the yogurt, egg yolks, lemon juice, mustard, cayenne, and salt.
Transfer the mixture to the top of a double boiler, set it over simmering water, and heat it, whisking continuously until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
Immediately remove from the heat.
To assemble the dish, place 3 asparagus spears over the bacon on each muffin half, and top with 1 poached egg and 2 tablespoons of the hollandaise sauce.

Shefit Revolutionary Sports Bra Review

FFR image for posts

shefit 2

This bra is an active woman’s dream!  It’s adjustable for everyone’s comfort. I’ve wrestled myself into many of the spandex sports bras in my day. They are uncomfortable to put on and never fit well. Then after you exercise, trying to get them off when you are sweaty…it’s almost impossible to roll off your body.  Shefit Revolutionary Sports Bra is here for you.  No more grunting, groaning, and working up a sweat just to put on your bra before your workout!

Shefit 1

It’s as easy as a zip and an adjustment of Velcro.  You put the Shefit Revolutionary Sports Bra on like a jacket, zip up the front, adjust the Velcro on your back and the 2 Velcro straps on your shoulders and you are ready to go.  It’s that easy.

This is a remarkable product.  It’s very easy to put on and it is so comfortable. During my workout Shefit Revolutionary Sport Bra worked wonderful.  I wasn’t sore and it was easy to remove after my workout.  I machine washed this bra and let it hang to dry and it is ready for the next workout.

Just Go Girl

This post was sponsored by the Role Mommy Writer’s Network and Just Go Girl.

Just Go Girl logo

When I was younger I was very active. I played intramural floor hockey during lunch breaks in high school as well as on our school’s soccer, basketball and volleyball teams. In Bible college, I did aerobics, basketball, volleyball, touch football and walked an hour almost every day! Enter childbearing years and parenthood….and my activity slowed down not only due to busyness but due to changes my body went through having my children. If you know what I mean, and if you don’t I’ll have to spell it out for you. Athletic leakage or urinary leakage. Yep, that’s probably more information than you wanted to know about me, isn’t it?

FFR JustGo Graphic

The JustGo Pad™ is a cool teardrop shaped pad (patent pending). Available exclusively at JustGoGirl.com and may be purchased in packs of 10 ($8) or as a membership at the following levels:

Committed: 10 pads, $8 per month; for women who work out two to three times per week

Dedicated: 20 pads, $14 per month; for women who work out five times each week

Obsessed: 30 pads, $18 per month; for women who work out every day

FFR Just Go Girl Collage

My original thought when I saw the design was, “It’s going to give me a wedgie.” Just being honest! However, I am happy to report that I was surprised it did not. They worked well and seemingly better than the mini pads I currently use because of the wider coverage at the top.

Do you or someone you know experience athletic leakage? Visit Just Go Girl and order free samples today!

Kregel Blog Tour ~ Candle Handbook

FFR image for posts

The Candle Handbook

 51IhBAVyqbL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_

Last year we introduced you to the The Candle Classic Bible which took its readers through the Bible in 365 exciting days! This year we introduce you to its accompanying handbook!

Travel through Bible history with this comprehensible exploration of the Bible, following key narratives from Genesis to Revelation.

Using clear graphics throughout, including illustrations of what biblical sites would have looked like, photographs and maps of important biblical references, and graphs showing the routes of important journeys, readers will travel through various Bible lands and times and discover how the people lived: the foods they ate, the homes they occupied, the clothes they wore, and the work they performed. The Candle Bible Handbook also includes completely new content, including glossaries, study questions to further learning, and FAQs that explain some of the mysteries of the Bible.

Readers will discover the purpose of every book of the Bible in this indispensable guidebook that uniquely fulfills the Candle brand.

OUR REVIEW:

I was SO excited to be able to review this handbook because I JUST KNEW it would be a perfect companion to my Candle Classic Bible…and it IS! However, if you do not own a Candle Classic Bible it works well alone as an EXCELLENT Bible reference tool! I teach Sunday school and we have been studying the Old Testament this year. I have ALWAYS wanted GOOD maps and pictures of the Old Testament…this handbook is it…my DREAM come true! The Maps are excellent and the pictures are terrific…it makes learning come to life! My students really began to picture the Old Testament after using this handbook.

I have also used this handbook as a family … it is wonderful to be able to have study questions right at the tip of my fingers for easy quizzes and it is great to show the little ones the pictures of the daily lives of people in the Bible.  We paired this with our Candle Classic Bible at home and when reading one story per day it really helps to have this handbook for home study and reflection (it makes mom’s job easier)!

Overall we were greatly overjoyed with this text. If you are looking for a family Bible companion piece …then this is IT! This is such a wonderful text I suggest that you at least take time to peruse buying options for the Bible handbook!

This book and many others are carried by Kregel Publications

VetIQ Minties Dental Treats for Dogs

FFR partnered post

We love our dog. Once he hit two it was like a switch went on in his brain and all the training the children put into him all seemed to pay off. He’s a good pooch. As you all know we feed him as we feed ourselves, basically. We buy him dog treats on special occasions. That’s why I wanted to try VetIQ Minties Dental Treats for Dogs.

Last summer when the vet was here to give Padfoot his rabies shot, he commented on how white Padfoot’s teeth are. The fact that the vet opened and showed his assistant and made that comment told me that he was surprised. So it’s not that we were concerned about Padfoot’s teeth or even his breath, it was more like I was curious as I usually am when a new product comes across my path.

Minties dental soft chews and bones are actually made with pretty healthy ingredients, which I like. I also like the fact that the products and ingredients are made right here in the good old U.S.A.

FFR Minties and Padfoot Collage

Minties Bones

Padfoot loved Minties Bones and our younger sons loved feeding them to him! The only thing I didn’t like about these was the fact only four came in a package!

“Ingredients of Minties:

Rice Flour, Vegetable Glycerin, Water, Natural Chicken Flavor, Calcium Carbonate, Lecithin, Garlic, Tricalcium Phosphate, Brewers Dried Yeast, Chlorophyll (Sodium Copper Chlorophyllin), Parsley, Fennel, Dill, Peppermint, Cholecalciferol (Source of Vitamin D3), Mixed Tocopherols (Natural Source of Vitamin E)”

Minties Breath Fresh Soft Chews

There were more Minties Breath Fresh soft chews in the bag but they are smaller portions. Again Padfoot loved them and sat pretty for his treat. One thing I didn’t get a chance to do was smell Padfoot’s breath after he ate these products. It’s neither here nor there because he doesn’t have regular bad breath. Both products do smell good on their own. Update: My daughter just said Padfoot’s breath smells good after he has his Minties. :)

VetIQ has several different dental products for dogs, plus other lines of products. Each one comes in various sized bags, amounts and according to the size of your dog. You can check out other VetIQ products here: http://www.vetiq.com/products/

Viactiv Build Strong Bones Together: Yours and Hers

This is a product-provided, sponsored conversation that contains affiliate links. I received two full-sized canisters of Viactiv® Calcium Soft Chews and a picture frame for my own personal use. All opinions, text and experiences are my own.

Our family is constantly working on our diet, as well as finding ways to remain healthy. This spring in addition to trying to walk daily, we have been taking a calcium supplement to build strong bones. Did you know that almost 70% of women, on average, are calcium deficient? And 86% of teen girls are not getting enough calcium each day? We were surprised to learn this. We have three teen girls and since 95% of their bone building occurs by age 20 we want them to get enough calcium. Viactiv Soft Chews provide 100% of the daily recommended of calcium, plus vitamins D3 and K.

Viactiv Soft Chews are the #1 doctor recommended calcium supplement chew. The recommended amount of calcium for a girl 9-18 years old is 1300 milligrams (mg), compared to only 1000 mg women 19-50 years require. My daughters and I have been taking Viactiv Calcium Soft Chews for well over a month. They are easy to take and taste really good. No need to struggle swallowing a massive ugly tasting pill. Viactiv Soft Chews come in two yummy flavors: Milk Chocolate and Caramel. The girls and I are admittedly chocolate lovers so we all prefer the Milk Chocolate but you won’t see any of us complain about the Caramel!

When we do not get enough calcium the deficiency causes our bodies to begin taking it from our bones. Calcium deficiency causes osteoporosis. Not only is calcium important for bone health but it strengthens our teeth and helps our muscles and nerves function the way they were intended.

Walking is a great weight-bearing exercise which helps build and maintain bone density.

We just bought more Viactiv at Walgreens and got them for free since we had enough rewards points accumulated! Viactiv is also available at Rite Aid, CVS, Target, Walmart and Drugstore.com

You can learn more about Viactiv Soft Chews on their Facebook page or www.Viactiv.com

Which delicious flavor of Viactiv® Calcium Soft Chew would you choose – Milk Chocolate or Caramel?

Week #19 Saturday Top Five Laughs

Saturdays Top Laughs dentistmelsbbutton-11

That time of week again! Welcome to Saturday top Five Laughs, along with Mel over at The Mommyhood Chronicles, for week #19 (for us) in our Saturday Top Five Laughs of the week.

FFR Jr. lifting weights
Not the greatest photo since he was moving.

5. Jr. was lifting weights and this is how he counted, “1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 99, 67, 47…” Too funny! Gotta teach the boy how to count correctly I guess. Ha!

4. Our older son asked hubby what was in an R rated movie….

Hubby ~ “Violence, language and nudity.”

Son ~ “Do they really strip down?”

Hubby ~ “Yes.”

Son ~ “Gives me the willies,” as he shakes and kicks his legs.

Quite a response, eh? ;)

3. We went to a new church on Good Friday and again on Easter Sunday, right here in town. The Monday after Jr. says, “Me want to go to church.” Awww….he LOVED greeting people during the meet and greet time!

2. We made cheddar cheese nearly two weeks ago and a couple of the older children and my husband were cracking “why”/whey jokes. For example, “We have a ‘whey’ with words.”

1. Our six year old asked a couple of strange, odd and kind of funny questions. Here’s one of them, “When will my brain get better?” Or was it bigger? Either way, it’s a winner.
