Our review:

We scheduled our delivery for a Tuesday and the delivery arrived as scheduled. It arrived at our home before noon, which was nice not having to wait all day for the delivery.

The cookies were neatly packaged in the tin as shown. As you can tell they are almost identical to the picture in the advertisement. We were pleasantly surprised at how many cookies were in the tin.

100_3874

In our assortment we received the semi-sweet chocolate chip, peanut butter, cinnamon sugar, and triple chocolate cookies. So overall, a very nice assortment of cookies!

So how did they taste? They were VERY yummy! When we first opened the package they were a bit cold and dense…since it is winter here and was in the single digits when they arrived. But, that did not stop anyone from eating a few!  Once the cookies sat for a bit and warmed to room temperature they were moist and soft…very pleasing. Cold or room temperature … it did not matter …they were eaten VERY quickly! They were a hit in our household.

One thing I liked about the size of the cookies is that they were perfect bite size… I even packed a few in my children’s lunch for a special snack during the week!

Just another side note… make sure to review shipping…i did notice that shipping costs vary between a few dollars depending on the day you have them delivered and the time…just something to keep in mind.

More Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas

Valentine’s Day is only a week away! I came across some more Valentine’s Day gift ideas that I want to share in case any of you are still struggling to find just the right thing for your sweetie or loved ones.

1. Reasons Why Mug. A Reasons Why Mug for mom or dad with little sketches of the children is something I’d enjoy! My husband not so much since he doesn’t drink tea or coffee.

2. Glass Keepsake Box. I think any female over the age of 12 would love something like this to keep jewelry and small trinkets in.

Valentine's Day Child with Heart

3. Heart in Sand Framed Print. I wish I had known about something like this when Robert and I were dating! It would have been a lovely reminder of our trip to both sides of Florida to watch the sun rise and the sun set.

4. Bucket of Love. Feelings of love low? Need some help? Try this bucket of love to sweeten the mood with your better half. ;) Ha ha. Not sure it will work, but hey it’s worth a try, right?

5. Bee Bear. The Bee Bear can be personalized for each of your children’s names. He’s awfully cute and cuddly looking!

All of these Valentine’s Day gift ideas can be found at the link I provided.

What are you getting your sweetie for V-Day?

This is a compensated post.

Twitten Valentine’s Day Gift Idea

mittens1

February is here and so is Valentine season. A couple of weeks ago I shared 5 Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas, but I have one more to add to that list. It’s a cutsie kind of gift idea that you could give any couple or yourself.

You remember how Bambi was twitterpated? Perhaps you are “twitten” with your sweetie? Twitten you say? Yes well that’s a new term to add to your vocabulary this winter and Valentine’s Day.

Twitten is a pair of mittens, but better than a pair of mittens when it comes to holding your sweetheart’s hand, as it allows you to really hold their hand and not deal with the bulk of a glove or mitten between your hands. Novel idea, eh? Told you it was a cute gift idea. ;)

Twitten is handmade in Peru. It is hand washable as it is made of 50% Alpaca, 30% Wool and 20% Acrylic. They are very soft. They run a bit large for my hand but they are “one size fits most couples” so as to accommodate many sized hands.

Not only does TWITTEN offer the Twitten, but they also sell Texting Gloves, Texting Mittens, Fingerless Gloves, Hats and Scarves. There are many different colors and patterns to choose from.

mittens2

I actually love these products. I really want the Texting Mittens! We haven’t had a chance to wear our Twitten or wash it but I am grateful for an extra set of mittens in our house as they tend to slowly disappear as winter goes on.

About TWITTEN

TWITTEN is a women-owned and operated business. 20% of profits go to the Bodhi Fund. The Bodhi Fund is a worthwhile charity administrated by the New Mexico Community Foundation. These two organizations offer support to families of children who need to receive life-saving treatment at the Cancer Center of Excellence and must travel out of state to receive their treatment.

He who twittens never twittens alone.

Prices vary.

So are you going to twitten your honey? ;)

I love the vibrant orange color of the Spice Bouquet.  I take my iPad with me to a lot of places, having a pen and paper close by is a super plus. Staying Warm This Winter With Harman Pellet Stoves

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Harman Stoves for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Growing up my parents had a wood stove. I remember it being a very hot source of heat. The kitchen was always warm. When we came inside from playing outside on a cold winter day I remember standing in front of the stove to get warm. My mother would hang all our winter wear up to dry near that stove as it dried really fast!

We don't have a wood stove or even a fireplace in our rental home or townhouse. However, our daughters have expressed an interest in having one. Just yesterday one of them said it would be nice to have a wood stove in an outdoor kitchen for the express purpose of canning!

If we ever decide to build a home or an outdoor kitchen a popular heating alternative we would consider is Harman Pellet Stoves. Take a look at the infographic below for some specs and facts about their pellet stoves.  Too bad we didn't own one now or else we would be staying warm this winter with Harman Pellet Stoves, instead of snuggling down with extra blankets as I am doing now with my laptop on my lap. Biomass fuel is incredible as it helps reduce your carbon footprint!

Pellet Stoves are Awesome

The good news is the federal tax credit on 75 percent efficient biomass heating appliances, which expired at the end of December 2011, was reinstated last month. This bill includes a "tax extender" for Internal Revenue Service Section 25C, which provides a tax credit for qualifying biomass-burning stoves! The extender provides a 10 percent tax credit of up to $300 on a qualifying biomass heating appliance purchased between Jan. 1, 2012 and De. 31, 2013! How's that for incentive?

Five Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas

Valentine’s Day is less than a month away. I’ve always loved Valentine’s Day. Guess it’s because my parents were romantic enough to get married over 40 years ago on Valentine’s Day. They never had elaborate or fancy ways of celebrating their anniversary but my dad almost always got my mom at least a card. He was very good about stuff like that – thoughtful and giving.

Have you thought about what you will give yourself, your “honey” or children to? We don’t always buy gifts for Valentine’s Day, but I want to share 5 Valentine’s Day gift ideas that we love.

Full Half Dozen Hand-Dipped Sugar Free Strawberries from Shari's Berries

1. Full Half Dozen Hand-Dipped Sugar Free Strawberries
My mother-in-law is a diabetic and this is what we treated her to this year…a little early. She loved them and said they were the best sugar free chocolate treat she’s tasted. She also said that she’s never had chocolate covered strawberries before. I didn’t clarify with her to see if she meant sugar free chocolate dipped strawberries or regular. Regardless she was surprised and loved the treat!

2. Homemade Baked Goods. We usually bake a special Valentine’s Day treat, like heart shaped sugar cookies and let the children decorate them with icing and sprinkles. The cookies are generally part of a themed tea party the children and I host for ourselves on February 14th.

3. Heart Shaped Boxes of Chocolate. In past years my husband’s mom has given the children a heart shaped box of chocolates (with 3-5 chocolates each) and a heart shaped balloon. They love it!

4. Dinner for Two. Dinner could be at home or going out to eat with your sweetie.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

5. Two Full Dozen Hand-Dipped Milk and Dark Strawberries. This year a little earlier than normal we treated ourselves to a couple dozen chocolate dipped strawberries. There were nut, chocolate chips and coconut covering the strawberries too. They were huge and very good. Not as sweet as some smaller berries but still a tasty treat we all enjoyed. These and the hand-dipped sugar free chocolate strawberries are from Berries.com

Shari’s Berries had numerous Valentine’s Day gift ideas from sugar free treats to fruit baskets. It is an easy to use website but when calculating your total be sure to take into consideration taxes and delivery charges, which can add up. I was anticipating the cost but was still surprised at what I ended up spending for a little treat for my mother-in-law.

What are some of your favorite Valentine’s Day gift ideas? Are your children passing out Valentines this year?

“I was given the chance to review a complimentary product from Berries.com.”

Your Brain Injury Compensation Claim

The success and size of your brain injury compensation claim will depend on a number of factors. The severity and type of brain injury, any additional injuries, and any other costs that need to be covered will ultimately determine the extent of payment that you receive but so too will other factors. Whether you accept a settlement or fight on in court, the exact details of the accident, and individual details of the compensation claim case will have a major bearing on the outcome of your case.

Brain Injuries

Brain Injury
Brain injuries can take a lot of time to heal and the last thing you require during this period of rehabilitation is to be worrying about work. With early compensation you can use this money to cover the cost of living so that you don’t have to rush back to work and you can use the money to pay for private medical attention, to pay for any necessary rehabilitation items, and for any other necessary purposes.

How To Proceed

You should ensure that you attend doctors’ appointments and visit healthcare professionals as and when required because gaps in your health records could prove problematic during your case. Your solicitor will aim to acquire copies of your health records so that he or she can use these in your case. These records will show the exact injuries that have occurred as well as the severity of those
injuries.

Compensation And Settlement

Compensation figures will take into account your benefits and salary and you will be able to gain sound advice on financial issues from your solicitor. They will also represent you during any court case or, if you prefer, they will attempt to gain quick compensation so that the money can be used to pay for treatment or so that you do not have to rush back to work.

Contact www.theheadinjurysite.com for more details on how to proceed with a brain injury compensation claim.

Prevent Getting Lost With Navigation Apps

When traveling do you use GPS or do you prevent getting lost with any navigation apps? Leave me a comment if you do!

Last Saturday I started an early morning paper route – paid opps and business has been rather slow this month so I needed a back up plan that still allowed me to be at home with my children. The glories of being self-employed…work isn’t always steady or consistent. A paper route allows me to work while my family sleeps. In the spring, if not before, I plan to invite my older girls to help me so we can spend extra time together. If that goes well, then maybe the little ones can join me, but I’d really hate to get them up that early!

An early morning paper route means I have been getting up at 2:22am and am usually out the door by 2:40-2:45am to head to the warehouse to bag the Chicago Tribune, Sun Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today and New York Times. Grab my route papers and be on my way. It’s very easy work. It’s finding the houses and maneuvering my town’s streets in the dark that is taking longer to get use to! I’ll admit I am not much of a navigator and while I have improved, you all know that I have used my human GPS – my travel savvy husband – many times in the past for help getting around town.

Multiple times I have got turned around or taken the wrong way as I drive my route. I have even called Mr. D, the man who’s in charge of routes, for help finding what I call “mystery” houses, the ones with no numbers, yet we are suppose to know where they are! Thankfully, Mr. D trains new drivers with half their route first so I have had the same half all week, however, there are a few new/different houses every day. This weekend he’ll probably introduce the second half, which will be interesting as the weekend routes are bigger and longer.

The past couple of days I have been using Verizon’s Navigator App to help me drive my paper route more efficiently. It has really helped, especially the voice directions on VZ Navigator. The Verizon Navigator voice guidance feature uses traffic lights and number of streets instead of feet or meters, to provide a safer driving experience.

About VZ Navigator

As I stated, VZ Navigator is an GPS or navigation app you can download to your cell phone. Verizon is offering a FREE 30-day trial, after the 30-day trial it costs $2/month or you can pay as you use for a fee of 99 cents per day (Yikes!). According to your data package you may be billed for data usage per megabyte basis.

The app also offers roadside assistance service, show traffic, a follow me option, plan a trip view, a place to store favorites, contacts, recent searches, find a place, movie or events and you can even input your preferences.

This app offers 2D, 3D, Dashboard and List view, plus so much more. From detours to weather, so far it appears to be a full service app from my initial use of it.

VZ Navigator Review

For the most part I am very hesitant to use location services and rarely have that feature turned on, but for the purpose of this post and review I turned it on. The thing I like the most is the voice guidance, which saves me from having to look down so much at the list of directions or the moving pin on the map (that’s what Google Maps provides).

Another thing I like is the convenience of it being on my phone without having to buy another device.

The thing I don’t like is the monthly charge at the end of the 30-day trial. I could buy a GPS system, you know? Time will tell on how much I use it and how attached I get to it. Ha! It’ll probably save me time on my paper route though!
