About the book:

Branigan Powers knows a good story when she sees onemdashand the ten-year-old cold case of wealthy Alberta Grambling Resnick’s murder definitely makes the cut. Resnick was stabbed in her home after she let it slip that she was planning to change her will. There are plenty of suspects in the death of the matriarch of the town’s founding family, but the killer has never been caught.

Our Review:

This is a Branigan Powers Mystery. I admit I have never read any Branigan Powers Mysteries before….but it is not necessary… this novel stands alone! Like all good mysteries this one is suspensful and full of drama! It is a great read for mystery lovers! This novel is not only riviting but is a great read because of the setting and characters beautifully penned by Deb Richardson-Moore. The author created a beautiful world for her novel! Do not delay pick up a copy today!

The city of Kiev was bombed in Hitler’s blitzkrieg across the Soviet Union, but the constant siege was only the beginning for her citizens. In this sweeping historical saga, Kelli Stuart takes the reader on a captivating journey into the littlemdashknown history of Ukraine’s tragedies through the eyes of four compelling characters who experience the same story from different perspectives.

Our Review:

This was an awesome read! Wonderful Historical Fiction! This really was a testament of faith in a time when the world was upside down! I enjoyed this read and highly recommend this book!

Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells

download

The Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells is one of the Dell’s hidden treasures. The Wilderness has it all under one roof! We were able to host our first annual family reunion at the Wilderness and had a great time! We opted for accommodations in the 5 bedroom retreat cabin which housed our family of 18 wonderfully. There were enough bedrooms and ample space for everyone to enjoy the gathering for the weekend. The retreat cabin is a Wilderness property off the main “facility” BUT since it is part of the Wilderness we were able to get shuttle service to and from our cabin and the resort. It was very nice to be able to use the shuttle service and not worry about loading and unloading children and acessories into a car and driving back and finding parking. The shuttle is a great service.

While we were at the Wilderness we were able to use many of the amenities . We went to all four indoor water parks – the Wild West, Klondike Kavern, Cubby’s Cove and the Wild WaterDome . We must say that we enjoyed the WaterDome the best! It is home to the country’s largest indoor wave pool capable of generating waves up to 5 feet tall. This waterpark is also really neat because it features a see-through roof which that allows you to tan indoors year round and it is home to Margarita’s swim-up bar, a nice retreat for adults.

Wild WaterDome 2016

We also utilized the Wild Fun Pass during our trip… which at a cost of $24.95 gave us a valued savings on some of the most popular attractions at the resort. It Includes admission to two 3D mini golf courses, bumper boats, the resort’s amazing two-story laser tag arena , a fun laser maze, an indoor ropes course with over 40 challenges, indoor go-karts and more! The kids were more than tired out after a day in the waterparks and the fun times we had using our Wild Fun Passes.

Mom in Front Smaller

The Wilderness was really perfect for a reunion because the resort has everything underone roof. no need to go off the grounds.
This was a vacation that will provided us with memories that last a lifetime! The kids said, “When can we come back? This was the best vacation ever!” We are already planning our next reunion at the Wilderness and cannot wait to return!

If You Were Me and Lived in…. ~ Series Installment Book Review

FFR image for posts

IF YOU WERE ME AND LIVED IN … : A Child’s Introduction to Cultures Around the World, is the latest exciting new children’s series of children’s books from Carole P. Roman. Roman takes young readers all over the globe to explore different countries and cultures. With each book covering a different nation, Roman opens up a world of wonder while highlighting the fact that underneath it all we are far more alike than we might have imagined. Focusing on what life would be like for children if they were to live in another city or country, she examines the diversity around the world and the value possessed by each different culture. Think of the series as a children’s version of the travel Channel that is filled with entertaining and educational facts.

We reviewed two more exciting books in Carole P. Roman’s series

IF YOU WERE ME AND LIVED IN … EGYPT

In short we are in love with this series! What a wonderful way to introduce young children to cultural diversity. The text of the books are simple yet powerful. We liked that the book was written for children … I did not have to summarize or paraphrase information because the text was outside of their knowledge grasp…what a plus! The vibrant illustrations were also a plus. My children not only loved listening and learning but took the book after we were done reading just to look at the pictures.

Wow! What an excellent read! This is such a lovely book and we look forward to the next installment of the series!

What a great book! Our children just love reading about the Captain No Beard adventures! We (the parents) love the valuable life lessons that the book series teachers our children!

In this installment Captain No Beard is determined to travel to Dew Rite Volcano. He won’t listen when Mongo predicts a storm or Linus indicates they are headed in the wrong direction. He insists Polly cook in the galley even though the seas are getting rough. What’s a crew to do with a stubborn, know-it-all captain? Will they convince the captain he is barreling headlong into danger, or will Captain No Beard jeopardize both his safety and the crew’s with his single-minded determination to go where he wants?

He ignores Andi’s lessons, walks away from responsibility, wrecks valuable equipment, and even runs away to San Francisco. The Carter family is in a frenzy trying to keep Daniel under control. When Andi discovers a horrifying secret about him, he forces her to stay silent. But all that changes when Daniel’s actions put lives in danger. Andi’s anger over her loss threatens to destroy not only Andi but her entire Circle C world. Can anyone break through the wall around Andi’s bitter heart and help her find healing? Loyal long-time readers of Susan Marlow’s historical fiction will line up for an older Andi’s newest adventure, and her discovery of how powerful love can be. – See more at: http://www.kregel.com/fiction/the-last-ride/#sthash.tL1Bh1ww.dpuf

Our Review:

First of I must say this was a wonderful read! I have not read any of the previous Andrea Carter books…so this one is one that can be read if you have not read any other Andrea Carter book. Although, I must say it makes me want to go back and read the rest of the Andrea Carter books!

Andrea is a great heroine, especially for teens! This book was packed with adventure, romance, and drama. Just enough to excite…but not too much to over saturate the mind!

I do not want to give away more than the summary I posted above…because this book is a must read …I do not want to produce spoilers for future readers! But if you are looking for a good book full of adventure romance and a bit of drama…check this one out!

You can find this book and all of the Andrea Carter books at:

Cave Kiddos: A Sunny Day ~ Book Review

FFR image for posts

908790666

Cave Kiddos is a fun book about four Paleolithic children who share the experience of developing and learning important words and concepts. Join Alk, Haha, Lala, and Zee as they discover the world around them.

Our Review: This book is geared toward the preschool age set. However, the book is very cute and my older children enjoyed reading it to the younger ones! THe characters are very cute and likable. The idea I liked best within the book is that the cave children sound out words … and this makes the book interactive … letting the readers sound out the words too! This is a great way to engage children while learning to read!
