When There Are No Easy Answers ~ Book Review

About the book:

Christians often assume they’re equipped to deal with tragedy if it enters their lives, but like most people, think it never really will. What happens, then, when we follow God’s will to the best of our abilities and heartbreak strikes? Do we mean it when we implore “Have Thine own way, Lord” or does that only apply in times of blessings or small, manageable hurts?

Our Review:

This is an awesome book! Feinberg has outdone himself with thinking outside the box! I loved reading this book. Not only did it answer questions I have been asking myself but it opened my eyes to a different way of thinking about things that may happen in my life and/or the lives of others. Again, another great read from Kregel Publications!

The Cantaloupe Theif ~ Book Review

FFR image for posts

About the book:

Branigan Powers knows a good story when she sees onemdashand the ten-year-old cold case of wealthy Alberta Grambling Resnick’s murder definitely makes the cut. Resnick was stabbed in her home after she let it slip that she was planning to change her will. There are plenty of suspects in the death of the matriarch of the town’s founding family, but the killer has never been caught.

Our Review:

This is a Branigan Powers Mystery. I admit I have never read any Branigan Powers Mysteries before….but it is not necessary… this novel stands alone! Like all good mysteries this one is suspensful and full of drama! It is a great read for mystery lovers! This novel is not only riviting but is a great read because of the setting and characters beautifully penned by Deb Richardson-Moore. The author created a beautiful world for her novel! Do not delay pick up a copy today!

Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells

download

The Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells is one of the Dell’s hidden treasures. The Wilderness has it all under one roof! We were able to host our first annual family reunion at the Wilderness and had a great time! We opted for accommodations in the 5 bedroom retreat cabin which housed our family of 18 wonderfully. There were enough bedrooms and ample space for everyone to enjoy the gathering for the weekend. The retreat cabin is a Wilderness property off the main “facility” BUT since it is part of the Wilderness we were able to get shuttle service to and from our cabin and the resort. It was very nice to be able to use the shuttle service and not worry about loading and unloading children and acessories into a car and driving back and finding parking. The shuttle is a great service.

While we were at the Wilderness we were able to use many of the amenities . We went to all four indoor water parks – the Wild West, Klondike Kavern, Cubby’s Cove and the Wild WaterDome . We must say that we enjoyed the WaterDome the best! It is home to the country’s largest indoor wave pool capable of generating waves up to 5 feet tall. This waterpark is also really neat because it features a see-through roof which that allows you to tan indoors year round and it is home to Margarita’s swim-up bar, a nice retreat for adults.

Wild WaterDome 2016

We also utilized the Wild Fun Pass during our trip… which at a cost of $24.95 gave us a valued savings on some of the most popular attractions at the resort. It Includes admission to two 3D mini golf courses, bumper boats, the resort’s amazing two-story laser tag arena , a fun laser maze, an indoor ropes course with over 40 challenges, indoor go-karts and more! The kids were more than tired out after a day in the waterparks and the fun times we had using our Wild Fun Passes.

Mom in Front Smaller

The Wilderness was really perfect for a reunion because the resort has everything underone roof. no need to go off the grounds.
This was a vacation that will provided us with memories that last a lifetime! The kids said, “When can we come back? This was the best vacation ever!” We are already planning our next reunion at the Wilderness and cannot wait to return!

RAV 4

FFR image for posts

As a mom of two children, with another on the way, what I drive is so important.  I need something the kids can get into quickly & easily, and be comfortable for short trips to practice and long trips for vacation.  As our family grows I need lots of trunk space as well, so I can transport all of their sports equipment, buy enough groceries for the week, and load up with luggage for a trip.

IMG_3735

I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of space the Toyota RAV 4 offered my family the week I had the opportunity to drive it.  Both of my kids’ car seats fit easily in the backseat, with room between so they weren’t on top of each other.  The trunk was very large and had more than enough room for our family of four.

IMG_3739

The RAV 4 drove very smooth.  I loved how it would “alert” me when I would get too close to the center line or too close to the shoulder.  It was nice having another set of eyes looking after my driving.  The seats were very comfortable, and the entire dashboard area was quite spacious.  I felt like I had a lot of space while driving, not cramped at all.  The back up camera was super helpful.  My driveway is a very long downhill road, so the camera helped immensely.  The RAV 4 has great gas mileage, 22 city and 29 highway.  It also has impressive safety ratings.  Overall it received 5 stars, which is the highest.

Overall, I really enjoyed test driving the RAV 4.  It would be a great vehicle for a family of four or less.  To find out even more information about the RAV 4, check out their website:

Toyota Sienna

FFR image for posts

I was pretty excited to test out the 2015 Toyota Sienna last week.  As a mom of two, and one on the way, minivans are a must in our family!  I need a vehicle that makes it easy to drive, shop, run errands, and get in & out of the vehicle as quickly and conveniently as possible.  The Toyota Sienna went above my expectations, and fit well in our family.

IMG_2929

To begin with, it gets 19 miles per gallon, 23 highway miles.  This is great since I live in the country and have to drive at least 10 miles to get anywhere.  I drive the highway a lot, so I really liked that the side mirrors would light up if there was a car in my blind spot.  The GPS was great! It was nice that I could still hear it even with a movie playing for the kids.

12919845_10154107109324588_2913485689987218753_n

The kids really enjoyed the wide screen DVD player.  They thought it was pretty neat that it was so wide.  I liked it, too, since I was still able to see behind me even when it was down.  I also liked that the Sienna had heated seats & steering wheel.  Living in the Midwest, most mornings are chilly so it’s a nice touch.

IMG_2927

Another great feature was that the third row seating stowed.  We travel a lot and usually have a lot of luggage, so that makes it much more manageable.  My absolute favorite part of the Sienna were the plastic containers that go in the trunk.  They have to be removed when you stow the seats, so I used them for all of my grocery bags.  It was so nice to not have the bags flying around my trunk.  I also then just carried the whole container into the house, took all of my bags out, and was able to only make one trip.

IMG_2928

If you are looking for lots of safety features, tons of convenience, a roomy and smooth ride, and a great family car, you should definitely consider a Toyota Sienna.  I highly recommend it!

If You Were Me and Lived in…. ~ Series Installment Book Review

FFR image for posts

IF YOU WERE ME AND LIVED IN … : A Child’s Introduction to Cultures Around the World, is the latest exciting new children’s series of children’s books from Carole P. Roman. Roman takes young readers all over the globe to explore different countries and cultures. With each book covering a different nation, Roman opens up a world of wonder while highlighting the fact that underneath it all we are far more alike than we might have imagined. Focusing on what life would be like for children if they were to live in another city or country, she examines the diversity around the world and the value possessed by each different culture. Think of the series as a children’s version of the travel Channel that is filled with entertaining and educational facts.

We reviewed two more exciting books in Carole P. Roman’s series

IF YOU WERE ME AND LIVED IN … EGYPT

In short we are in love with this series! What a wonderful way to introduce young children to cultural diversity. The text of the books are simple yet powerful. We liked that the book was written for children … I did not have to summarize or paraphrase information because the text was outside of their knowledge grasp…what a plus! The vibrant illustrations were also a plus. My children not only loved listening and learning but took the book after we were done reading just to look at the pictures.

Wow! What an excellent read! This is such a lovely book and we look forward to the next installment of the series!
