What a great book! Our children just love reading about the Captain No Beard adventures! We (the parents) love the valuable life lessons that the book series teachers our children!

In this installment Captain No Beard is determined to travel to Dew Rite Volcano. He won’t listen when Mongo predicts a storm or Linus indicates they are headed in the wrong direction. He insists Polly cook in the galley even though the seas are getting rough. What’s a crew to do with a stubborn, know-it-all captain? Will they convince the captain he is barreling headlong into danger, or will Captain No Beard jeopardize both his safety and the crew’s with his single-minded determination to go where he wants?

About the Book:

Andi’s newest adventure may be more than she can handle–even with her family’s help Andrea Carter is turning sweet 16 and life could not be better. She’s about to finish school, her sister Melinda is getting married, and her older brother Justin has a new baby to spoil. There will be plenty of time to work with the colt of her treasured palomino horse, Taffy, and best of all, Andi will finally get to work full-time for the ranch she loves. There’s just one problem: a city-slicker cousin named Daniel. Left there by his father, with a cryptic warning that New York City life has done damage to the young man’s character, Daniel wants nothing to do with the ranch. He ignores Andi’s lessons, walks away from responsibility, wrecks valuable equipment, and even runs away to San Francisco. The Carter family is in a frenzy trying to keep Daniel under control. When Andi discovers a horrifying secret about him, he forces her to stay silent. But all that changes when Daniel’s actions put lives in danger. Andi’s anger over her loss threatens to destroy not only Andi but her entire Circle C world. Can anyone break through the wall around Andi’s bitter heart and help her find healing? Loyal long-time readers of Susan Marlow’s historical fiction will line up for an older Andi’s newest adventure, and her discovery of how powerful love can be. – See more at: http://www.kregel.com/fiction/the-last-ride/#sthash.tL1Bh1ww.dpuf

Our Review:

First of I must say this was a wonderful read! I have not read any of the previous Andrea Carter books…so this one is one that can be read if you have not read any other Andrea Carter book. Although, I must say it makes me want to go back and read the rest of the Andrea Carter books!

Andrea is a great heroine, especially for teens! This book was packed with adventure, romance, and drama. Just enough to excite…but not too much to over saturate the mind!

I do not want to give away more than the summary I posted above…because this book is a must read …I do not want to produce spoilers for future readers! But if you are looking for a good book full of adventure romance and a bit of drama…check this one out!

You can find this book and all of the Andrea Carter books at:

Cave Kiddos: A Sunny Day ~ Book Review

FFR image for posts

908790666

Cave Kiddos is a fun book about four Paleolithic children who share the experience of developing and learning important words and concepts. Join Alk, Haha, Lala, and Zee as they discover the world around them.

Our Review: This book is geared toward the preschool age set. However, the book is very cute and my older children enjoyed reading it to the younger ones! THe characters are very cute and likable. The idea I liked best within the book is that the cave children sound out words … and this makes the book interactive … letting the readers sound out the words too! This is a great way to engage children while learning to read!

This book can be found on Amazon:

LulaClip Magnetic car seat clips

THEY GO WITH YOU ~ Lulaclip car seat clips attach to any car seat or stroller. Their placement can be adjusted so they grow with your child.

LulaClips are one of the most unique car seat travel accessories on the market. These patent pending magnetic clips attach to any car seat or stroller. They allow the straps/ buckles of the car seat or stroller to be clipped out of the way. This makes unloading or loading a child as easy as it can be.

We found Lulaclip very easy to use and was nice to not have to search for the car seat clips. They really work as an extra set of hands.

Here is a closer look at the clips back and front sides. You will note that installation is simply pinning them to the car seat fabric.

Still Restless ~ Book Review

FFR image for posts

4390 restless cvr CC.indd

About the Book:

Many things prevent us from allowing God to be the manager of our lives. For some, it’s a longing for social justice they don’t see Him bringing about. Others fear losing more than they would gain. Still others have been wounded and believe a God of love would have stopped the hurt from happening. In response, we create our own kingdoms, attempting to organize life to get what we want. The problem is that we are not truly equipped to run our world well, no matter how hard we try.

Still Restless relates good news: God has always had time for honest seekers, even when they have hard questions or objections for Him. The proof is in the life of Christ. Jesus met for one-on-one conversations to share the way to truth and life, and He rarely used the same approach twice. The gospel is designed for everyone, no matter one’s experiences or personality.

Jan Hettinga walks through these gospel encounters to demonstrate how talking with Jesus is a good thing to do, particularly in today’s fast-paced modern world. Conversations with Christ lead to a spirituality that shuts down evil and empowers good. They produce a faith that surrenders control right from the beginning, embracing the relief of following a leader who cares for you.

What would you give to travel back in time to make an appointment with Jesus, to talk to God in flesh and ask your questions face-to-face? Hettinga uncovers the path to that opportunity today. Get ready for the conversation of a lifetime and a manager you can trust completely. – See more at: http://www.kregel.com/christian-living-and-devotionals/still-restless/#sthash.hx1eGtko.dpuf

Our Review:

This was a very good read! I loved the way the author got the reader involved and invested within the Bible and the context of Jesus and the Gospels. This is a great group to also use within Bible study groups or faith groups to begin a discussion of investing and involving Jesus and the Gospels into your home, lives and careers! This is certainly something you do not want to pass by… invest today!

Kia Sorento SXL

FFR image for posts

I am definitely a soccer mom.  I have two kids and drive a minivan, and I cannot complain.  Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to drive a SUV, though.  I had the opportunity to drive a KIA Sorento last week, and I really enjoyed it.

IMG_2449

The KIA Sorento offered quite a bit of room.  Both of my kids’ car seats fit in the backseat easily.  Even my mother-in-law was able to squeeze in the middle of them when we had a full load.  The Sorento felt very roomy, especially with the moon roof that opened the full length of the vehicle.  The kids really enjoyed looking up at the sky on the way to school.

IMG_2395

The KIA Sorento offers some really nice features including heated seats, air-conditioned seats, heated steering wheel, push button start, memory driver’s seat, and my favorite the navigation system.  It was really easy to plug in addresses and easy to follow directions.  The back-up camera makes it virtually impossible to hit anything.  Trust me, it has full camera views where you can literally see every angle of what is around you.  I miss it on my minivan now.

IMG_2448

The trunk space is huge.  It fit all of my grocery shopping bags easily, with room for more!  The KIA Sorento gets 22MPG on average, which is great considering how much driving around I do.  This vehicle gets up to speed unbelievably quick, thanks to its 2.0L turbo gas direct injection 4-cycle engine.  Let’s just say, this mommy mobile for the week was fast!  Overall, I was really pleased with the KIA Sorento and recommend it to families with kids, and even people without kids.  It really is a great vehicle!

Ice Cream Wear

FFR image for posts

I would call myself a pretty active person.  I workout 5-6 days a week, depending on the week. I’m also a busy stay at home mom of two.  Being fashionable is not at the top of my list.  Comfort and versatility are important in my life.  90% of the time my hair is in a ponytail, so I try to “look cute” by changing up my headbands.

IMG_2415

I was really impressed with the headband I received from Ice Cream.  Not only was it super stylish, but it was extremely comfortable.  I put it on in the morning to run my errands, and wore it throughout my PiYo workout.  It didn’t move, and it kept the hair out of my eyes.  I loved how vibrant the color is, and how soft the material is.  The headband was made from 80% Nylon and 20% Spandex.  It’s also machine washable which is a huge plus!

IMG_2416

Their website offers a ton of choices ranging from headbands, to workout pants, and fitness tops.  They will custom make their clothing to fit you.  What I absolutely love about this company is their commitment to helping women achieve and maintain their body weight.  When you lose inches and your Ice Cream Wear is too large for you, they will alter it for you, free of charge.  How amazing is that!  For more information and to see all of their products, check out

As the new year is left in the dust and we creep into February…I find myself asking if I have begun to work on my New Years goals or if I have left them in the dust as well. In February, many people either have forgotten their New Years resolutions or are diligently trying to stay on track.

I have made the promise to myself to continue to strive toward a healthier lifesyle for myself and my family. I have found that essential vitamins and supplements are part of this regimine. I am a avid vitamin and supplement advocate…as we do not always get the essential vitamins and minerals we should be getting every day. Supplements can help achieve that goal.

So if you are reading my post and noting that perhaps you should be getting more daily vitamins…or just want some reminders or encouragement to do so… Nature Made has a great new site that can assist!
