Fit Chic Headbands

FFR image for posts

Working out has really become my passion.  It’s been a little over a year that I have been really and truly committed to exercising consistently.  Over the past year I have done everything including intense cardio workouts like T25, weightlifting like 21 Day Fix and P90X3, powerlifting like Hammer & Chisel, running, yoga, and PiYo. Since I’m working out everyday, I’ve been trying to find clothes and accessories I can wear to run errands in and workout in that are also cute and fashionable.

I was so happy to stumble upon Fit Chic Headbands.  These headbands are handmade and come in over one hundred different colors and designs.   Solids, animal prints, stripes, polka dots, camouflage, and more.  The material is super soft and gentle on your head;  I could barely feel it.  My favorite part of Fit Chic Headbands is how they are versatile.  I liked wearing it wide, right at my hairline when I was working out.

I folded it a little and wore it more on the top of my head when I was running my errands.

If You Were Me and Lived In…~ Series Installment Book Review

FFR image for posts
IF YOU WERE ME AND LIVED IN … : A Child’s Introduction to Cultures Around the World, is the latest exciting new children’s series of children’s books from Carole P. Roman. Roman takes young readers all over the globe to explore different countries and cultures. With each book covering a different nation, Roman opens up a world of wonder while highlighting the fact that underneath it all we are far more alike than we might have imagined. Focusing on what life would be like for children if they were to live in another city or country, she examines the diversity around the world and the value possessed by each different culture. Think of the series as a children’s version of the travel Channel that is filled with entertaining and educational facts.

We reviewed one more exciting book in Carole P. Roman’s series

51GZy7T5F1L._SX491_BO1,204,203,200_

In short we are in love with the idea of this new series! What a wonderful way to introduce young children to cultural diversity. The text of the books are simple yet powerful. We liked that the book was written for children … I did not have to summarize or paraphrase information because the text was outside of their knowledge grasp…what a plus! The vibrant illustrations were also a plus. My children not only loved listening and learning but took the book after we were done reading just to look at the pictures.

On a cultural note… this book really hit home for us. My grandmother’s side of the family is Italian and we are  friends are forever hearing of Italianh traditions and tasting homemade Italian delicacies. I thought this was very poignant for our family because it let the children learn about our own cultural identity.

The books are geared toward Pre-K through age eight… well… my 5, 8, and 10 year olds all LOVED the books! Love of literature and cultural awareness is a must in our household, so this series was a hit!

Wow! What an excellent read! This is such a lovely book and we look forward to the next installment of the series!

The Lion Comic Book Hero Bible ~ Review

FFR image for posts

9780745956176

A stunning new comic book version of the Bible now given the superhero treatment by the team behind The Lion Graphic Bible and The Manga Bible

The story of the Bible is a unique tale of origins and cosmic powers; of the ageless battle between good and evil; of human potential and human treachery; and of a Messiah–a savior for the world. This is indeed the stuff that graphic novels are made of. Superheroes are the biggest comic genre of all, with many heroes having their origins in biblical characterization and imagery. This is the first Bible retelling to engage with and challenge the superhero genre.

The Lion Comic Book Hero Bible is a dynamic expression of the Bible’s depth and power, produced in the style of Marvel™ Comics. You’ve heard of Spiderman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. Now meet Earthman, Lawman, Warrior Man, and many others. With dynamic illustration using a range of styles, Siku (Old Testament) and Jeff Anderson (New Testament) bring the Bible stories alive for a new and graphically sophisticated generation. – See more at: http://www.kregel.com/siku-richard-thomas/the-lion-comic-book-hero-bible-2/#sthash.xiDBBwn9.dpuf

Our Review:

We were so excited to see this publication. I was confident that my children and religious education students would gravitate toward the publication immediately. I was right! My 9 year old son grabbed it as soon as I opened the package. He was eager to get into the text! He is a graphic novel fan and a comic fan so this Bible was right up his alley. As for my students … this worked as a great supplemental Bible when they are working on activities. They love to look up characters and their stories within the Hero Bible.

Overall this is a great publication. The pictures are vivid and exciting and it presents the le in such a great new way! Do not miss out on this new publication.

Our Review:

Through the Influence Central campaign we were privileged to review water wipes in two sizes… a 240 count package and a 540 count package. The 240 count package was a soft sided multi-pack that  contained 4 sleeves of 60 wipes each. The 540 count package was a box that contained 9 sleeves of 60 wipes each. Both were of quailty product and good at a bulk discount. However I liked the option of a box of wipes more because the box was easier to store and contained more wipes. But however you purchase them they are still a great value for the premium product!

20151127_143811

WaterWipes are chemical free and we love this feature. We have had issues in the past with other brand wipes burning the skin of our children and causing rashes. We even had such an extreme experience that our daughter had to be under doctors care for severe chemical burns due to the wipe ingredients. WATERWIPES takes care of any chemical issue because they are CHEMICAL FREE! We love to use them… we can also use them easily on the hands and faces of all of our children without worrying of any repercussions from the ingredients or causing rashes. This is such a great product! I cannot advocate for this wipe enough! We are in love and will continue to purchase this new brand!

Kia Sedona SX-L

FFR image for posts

Before I had kids I always said I would never ever be the soccer mom driving a mini van. I would always want an SUV rather than a minivan.  Well, after I had kids I got smart and starting looking at minivans. Once you drive a van with kids, you’ll never go back!  I had the opportunity to drive around a Kia Sedona SX-L for a week, and boy was I the envy of all of the other moms!

IMG_0547

The Kia Sedona had every single bell and whistle you can imagine to make life easier!  I was amazed at how roomy it was on the inside. I felt like I could fit 20 kids on there.  The seats folded down in the back and I had lots of room to fit all of our luggage, and even a dresser!

IMG_0475

The leather seats were so comfortable and easy to clean!  Dual sunroofs made it fun and airy for the kids.  I was disappointed when I didn’t see a DVD player hanging from the ceiling, and then I realized it pops up from the center console. How nice that I no longer had a blind spot when my kids wanted to watch a movie.

IMG_0431

The navigation was very user friendly and all of the climate controls were easy to control.  My favorite part was the heated seats and heated steering wheel. My husband liked that he could make his seats cold.  It was nice to have both options.  The Sedona drove very smooth.  I found myself speeding quite often it rode so nice.

The absolute best part of the entire vehicle, though, were the back up cameras.  I literally did not have to even look behind me when I was going in reverse.  The cameras showed me every single angle imaginable and even alerted me when I car or pedestrian was entering my zone.  It was absolutely unbelievable and I felt so safe.  I am a terrible parallel parker, but with this feature I was able to do it the first time!

The Kia Sedona has great gas mileage and an amazing 10 year/100,000 mile limited powertrain warranty.  If you are looking for a new family car, you most definitely need to take a Kia Sedona SX-L for a ride. You will not be disappointed!

A Cup of Dust

FFR image for posts

9780825443886

About the book:

Ten-year-old Pearl Spence is a daydreamer, playing make-believe to escape life in Oklahoma’s Dust Bowl in 1935. The Spences have their share of misfortune, but as the sheriff’s family, they’ve got more than most in this dry, desolate place. They’re who the town turns to when there’s a crisis or a need–and during these desperate times, there are plenty of both, even if half the town stands empty as people have packed up and moved on.

Pearl is proud of her loving, strong family, though she often wearies of tracking down her mentally impaired older sister or wrestling with her grandmother’s unshakable belief in a God who Pearl just isn’t sure she likes.

Then a mysterious man bent on revenge tramps into her town of Red River. Eddie is dangerous and he seems fixated on Pearl. When he reveals why he’s really there and shares a shocking secret involving the whole town, dust won’t be the only thing darkening Pearl’s world.

While the tone is suspenseful and often poignant, the subtle humor of Pearl’s voice keeps A Cup of Dust from becoming heavy-handed. Finkbeiner deftly paints a story of a family unit coming together despite fractures of distress threatening to pull them apart.

Our Review:

This is another winner in our book! What a great Story! I always love Historical fiction especially when it resonates on a spiritual level! The author has molded the characters so wonderfully that the reader is able to immerse themselves into their lives and it is as the reader is part of the living history! Take time time out of your schedule to pick up this book you will not be sorry it is an A+!

52 Original Wisdom Stories

FFR image for posts

9780857216021

Positive and life-affirming stories for church leaders

These 52 loosely related fictional stories about the large themes of life, nature, and faith follow the liturgical year and are an ideal resource for public worship.

Sid and Rosie are an older married couple with several children and grandchildren. Through a series of short, engaging narratives, we learn about their faith, their feelings for one another, their hopes and dreams, and their perception of how God speaks to them through the events of their lives.

Each story stands on its own; their sequence follows the rhythm of the church’s year from Advent through Christmas, Easter, Pentecost, and Harvest Thanksgiving. With an open tone of wonder and reflection, author Penelope Wilcock explores the ordinary and extraordinary topics of daily life: falling in love, marriage, birth, education, illness, farming, adversity, hospitality, homemaking, and work.

This beautiful large-format paperback is suitable for personal reflection or as a refreshing resource for church and small group discussions.

Permission to photocopy is included. – See more at: http://www.kregel.com/ministry/52-original-wisdom-stories/#sthash.QIaGyFmZ.dpuf

Our Review:

This was a life-affirming piece of work! i loved every story included in this work. The author really out did her self when compiling just the right stories. Every story does stand on its own so it can be reproduced and used for study groups or get togethers or even group meetings! I simply adored everything about this book! the plus is that permission to photocopy is included so no worries about copying for your group or friends!

Even though we do not own the companion book 99 Stories from the Bible… this book stands on its own! What a great reference for children’s prayer. I love using this text in my religious education classes to facilitate prayer and understanding with my students. My own children also love the prayers within. This is a wonderful book not to be passed by!
